I have this sort of cheesy metaphor, that we are like horses. If we try to control ourselves, we'll eventually end up in trouble. But if we let God take the saddle, He'll lead us where we ought to go. Like horses, sometimes we'll get scared of things, but we can trust our Rider to take care of us.

I don't think it's cheesy! The last sentence is similar to how we are like sheep - except we're a lot more like sheep than horses cause sheep just aren't as smart

. Or I guess you could say we are frightened sheep naturally... but God makes us strong horses...
Okay THAT train is heading for a cliff!

The other thing I was going to say was that made me think of the verses in James 3! Where they compared the tongue to a bit in the mouth of a horse.
Anyhow here's my answers to the questions:
What kind of horse experience do you have? Do you own, work with or take lessons on horses?I used to own a pony named Daisy who was probably... 30 years old (we had no idea so just guessed

) She was a paint with long shaggy hair (that got very bushy in the winter), a large, round stomach, and a swayback. She was the kind of horse you could put kids on her back and just leave them with no fear.

But she also had a
terrible stubborn streak when she didn't get her own way...

I never took official lessons... just learned from a few friends along the way.
I owned Daisy for about 6 years - she just passed away this Jan. very quietly. She was the best pony I could ask for! (sorry for that sad story right there!

)
What is your favorite way to ride (English, Western) and discipline (Jumping, Racing, etc.)?Mmm... I only tried an English saddle a few times and while it's nice because it's lighter and much simpler, I prefer the security of a western.
I just rode, no fancy stuff.

But I love riding through the woods!
Would you like to own a horse? If so, what would your dream horse be, in attitude and appearance?I would love a horse... oh, I love all of the colors I don't know if I could choose! (maybe a dun like Spirit

) However I would want it to be small(er) because I'm small(er)

,kind and devoted to me but still "free" (if that makes any sense). Kind of like a mix between a cat and a dog... except in a horse's body... yeah.
How do you incorporate horses into your fantasy stories? In my early stories they were pretty much ALL about horses! Racing, surviving in the desert, a fairy's unicorn... they were everywhere. Now I don't put them in as main characters, but horses definitely still pop up in my writing!
Why do you like horses (assuming that you do)?/What do you like about them? I've never thought about why I like them... I guess for a lot of small reasons. Their warm breath on your palm. The sound when they whinny or snort. Their pleasure when they roll (especially right after a bath!

). Their gracefulness. And I love riding them! Sure, you bounce a lot and get sore (at least I did)... but there's something special to sitting in a saddle on horse, holding the reins in your hand. Or maybe just sitting on their back clutching their mane.

Ah, horses...
