| I have a beautiful desk in my room that my grandfather built where I do most all my writing. I like all the little cubbies, space for books and CDs, and drawers to file all my papers away in. Though, it generally isn't quite as clean looking as the pictures shows, despite my fondness for straightening and dusting it. And, it's one of my favorite places to be.

| I think I'm about to become very embarrassed. I write in my living room with: 1.) A wooden swivel chair that's older than me. 2.) A wooden TV tray. (And I use the TV tray as an elevated footrest most of the time as I like to write while leaning back in my chair...) Pros: Five steps to the right and I'm in the kitchen. One step and a slight trip over my ethernet cables to the left and I'm at my bookshelf and whiteboard. And if I need additional space to place a reference book or drinking cup I just lean out precariously from my swivel chair and pull another chair out from the kitchen table. Cons: None. It may not be a wooden desk, but I still like to think my TV tray is a classy piece of furniture since it's made out of wood.

| *Grins * Nothing wrong with a good chair. I write in bed, mostly, propped up by multiple pillows, despite having a beautiful writing desk (an actual, real, writing desk). I tend to do art over there. My bed fits my writing desires better, though, except when Riley and Lennox skitter across my keyboard. I will have to post a picture. E, I love getting to see your writing area! Nicole, I want your desk. | |

| Hey, Roager, it's convenient and practical. And *whispers* I'm actually cheating - most of the writing happens on my bed anyway. | |

| You use mechanical pencils, Elizabeth? * is delighted * I love mine. I'm just sad when they break from overuse... I love your desk, Amy. It is beautiful. And I have a fondness for cleaning and organizing that is amply supplied by my desk too... * suddenly notices something * Nikki? That's a cool chair, Roager. It looks so comfy I almost tried to sit on it before I realized that that would be slightly difficult...it – being – a picture and all.... My desk space is a wee bit large, and I don't write there (not in my notebooks) very often because there is nowhere to sit down. I write on the computer, though, and it is my notebooks's home. I took some pictures of it in its cluttered state just to be natural... Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: All the books above are not part of my space – the desk doubles as Papa's and Mama's bookshelves. But the shelves that I took specific pictures of are mine. | |

| His name is Wrinkle... * fondly * My favorite I've ever had was a Pentel techniclick, but unfortunately I can't find them anymore, so I am currently scrounging Cork for something comparable. | |

| For a long time I used to write wherever the laptop happened to be, whether in the Family Room, the Dining Room (the only decently quiet place), or the Den when Dad cleared his desk off. But now I've upgraded. Sorry, no pictures to share, but I can describe it. My station is the family computer on my grandfather's drafting desk (I think ). The surface is relatively uncluttered, and to the right there's a nice view out the window. My chair is rather uncomfortable, but the bass for the speakers is in the cubby, so it serves as a great foot rest. I have two large screens which display various documents concerning my books and research, and internet browsing (very helpful). I wish I had a shelf of books handy, but alas, they're all out in the Family Room. The best part is that I can close the door, shut out all the noise, and focus! | |

| I'm going to go clean out my encyclopedia closet and take a picture, because it's far more interesting than my desk, which I have cleared of most objects since I got a computer. Until then, I shall describe it. My desk is really my dad's desk, but for the time being it's mine. There is a file drawer on the right where I store my notebooks and extra things. On the left is a deep cubby that goes all the way to the back of the desk. It hides my sewing machine and my three-ringer binders. I mostly store old hand-written scenes and novel notes in three ring binders. At the moment, the top of my desk has school books, my 3 inch thick dictionary, a green metal lamp, and general writing materials. Above my desk I have a magnet board and a white board. | |

| I know I still need to take a picture of my desk. I've actually taken several, but they keep getting outdated before I post them. I'll take a "final" one after I decide whether I'm *gasp* retiring my writing laptop. | |

| I tend to write..wherever I can. But my desk, complete with an ancient laptop which cannot be moved lest it die, sits in the corner of my bedroom, smooshed between my wall and my bed, with a narrow walk-way in-between. I have a set of small drawers off to one side: The top drawer is filled with...well, junk. White-out markers, rulers, erasers, old concert tickets, hair bands, guitar picks, magnets, etc. The second drawer holds a pile of small journals and pocket notebooks, as well as pads of paper I pick up whenever we go to a convention--convention booths are wonderful for pens and note pads. On the other side is a set of crate/shelf things. The first shelf houses a small trash bucket--mostly used for candy-wrappers and discarded ideas--as well as all my writing, naming, word finding, and rhyming books. Behind those, I've set the envelope and magazine from my first published poem, and a tattered blue binder containing my first completed manuscript ever--my first NaNo, in longhand, and the first draft of 'Scales'. My desk itself is pretty decorated, with a pile of books to support my computer's persnickety power plug, some scarves and little fantasy-type knick-knacks to cover up the stack. Other than that, I try to keep my space clean and uncluttered, otherwise I don't write very well. (Oh, and I also have a shoebox full of candy and writing snacks always nearby. ) | |

| I do my writing in one of two places, in my bed late at night when no one can bother me and try to read over my shoulder. Or at an old desk that our ancient desktop computer sits on. It tends to get quite cluttered, though generally not with my things. I almost always have a TV table on my left so I can write in my notebooks and binder while using the computer at the same time. I always have some sort of tea when I write. Well, I don't when I write in bed as I have a tendancy to spill it when I try to drink lying down. Music is also a must have. | |
