So, I'm not sure if any of you (besides those who've run into me in chat or have read my posts on G+) know what's happening up in my area of the world...

As of Tuesday night/Wednesday morning we had torrential rain that caused flash flooding, road wash-outs, sink-holes and mudslides. The main river in the area is 7 ft deeper than normal and instead of passing through dams at the normal rate of 2,000 to 4,000 feet per second, it is last known to be passing through at 43,000 feet per second. According to news reports, 3,000 square miles have been affected so far with the word being things are going to get worse before they get better.

Specific request for my boss (Alan and his wife Linda) and everyone in their area. They live next to the last major dam, just below a big reservoir lake. Last I heard their house was gaining water and the main road just a short ways away had water at waist height. Late this afternoon there was a forced, air-lift evacuation (which caused Alan and Linda to leave behind their home and their business -- I work at his home run photography studio) with no choice to remain. Rumor is one of the dams up stream might break at some point, but that's not confirmed.

Praise God though, there have been no casualties and no major injuries reported! Over 200 people are out of their homes, but not one of them is missing. There have been some close calls, but everyone is alive (though not dry). We've had clear skies all day, but tomorrow may hold the possibility of more rain. Things are just a mess in most cities with many, many roads still under water or caved in.

Note about myself: Me and my family are perfectly safe. Amazingly unaffected by the storms; our land is high, dry and safe. We may be housing some friends who can't get home for the next few days... (and possibly someone's horse)

Prayer for continued protection and things to let up soon and allow work to begin...

(those of you who'd like to see some pictures, let me know and I can PM you a few links)
