Taking off on a Dragon

A quiet disturbance wakes a majestic purple dragon from her sleep, and she lifts her head to see a petite girl slip into the clearing wearing a black cloak. She murmurs a greeting to the dragon, and pushes back her hood to reveal a brown ponytail. The girl sets down a satchel and bag that were concealed by her cloak on the dewy grass, and goes to pet the dragon's nose before going to load the packs on the creature's back. The dragon lays her head down to wait patiently, but she is itching to take to the sky.

The girl takes a notebook from her satchel, flips to a new page, and begins writing. After a moment, she tears out the page and replaces the notebook in the satchel. She slips off the dragon's back and walks towards the edge of the clearing, folding the paper as she goes. The girl goes up to a tree and sticks the paper in a hollow in the trunk.

She returns to her dragon and climbs up. On a silent command, the great creature and rider take off with a whoosh, girl and dragon as one.

A breeze from the dragon's wing beats causes the paper to fall out, and it folds open on the ground for everyone to see.

Gone to visit a dear friend on the twenty-fourth of June,
and will return on the eleventh of July.

For a whole two and a half weeks. *Bounces*

I won't be completely gone, though I will be here less. I have my own computer now, so I can check back and keep an eye on you guys. *coughcoughJeremiahcoughcough*

I'll keep writing as well.

A boy that looks perpetually confused and misplaced walks into the clearing and spots the paper and reads, and goes and then and then The boy folds the paper and brings it to show to the other HWers.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen my Twin wandering around HW for awhile.

For a second there, when you said Victoria, I was like

because there's a Victoria in Australia, but when I realized you probably meant in America somewhere, I was like

And I am back!

I had a wonderful time, though it is good to be home. However, life does not quiet down until after the weekend, so I'll still be scarce for a bit. Then I can catch up.
