Greetings! I have introduced myself before, but that was so long ago now that I don't care to remember when it was. My username here is Forward Unto Dawn, and my real name is Jake, but you can call me whatever you want (as long as it's not Jacob).

My brother has been registered here for some years as Neil of Erk, more recently as Neil Mimetes. Through Neil, I have been kept fairly up to date on Jay's situation so that I could keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

While I have no books to boast and would not claim great skill in writing, the Lord has led me to many ideas for novels. Many of them will probably never be written down, nor are they developed enough to share, but there are two stories I am working on at present. One of them is far from new, and is currently on hold because of my other project. I am sure you will get to know both of them later. :)

Besides writing novels, I have interest in many other activities. I have been playing piano for about nine years and it has become close to my heart. Music became a great interest, leading to self-taught guitar and voice. I have been dabbling with poetry for about three years, but have not written enough to put together an anthology. I am starting my fifth year of competitive speech and will explore policy debate for the 2012-2013 season. I enjoy recreation with friends and family, including running, football, Ultimate Frisbee, camping, and hiking. I have volunteered at a local hospital for the past year and loved the experience enough to do it again this year. I am starting work on my gold medal for the Congressional Award program, and I'm holding my breath for that... ;)

I have enjoyed a Christian walk for about twelve years. Through many trials and failures, I have truly learned how great a God we serve and am excited to get to know Him throughout the rest of my life. It is to Him all glory is truly due!

I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in the future! :)

Welcome back to HolyWorlds, Jake! Glad to have you here. :D

I'm also an avid musician. I've been playing piano for about twelve years, and self-taught myself how to play the guitar over the past two years and am a part of our church band. I don't sing the best, but I do it anyway. ;) What kind of music do you like to play?

Thanks, Bushmaid! :)

Twelve years is a long time... :D It's cool that you are part of your church band. I love to play worship music. Besides that, I love classical and romantic. Romantic more so, and particularly Chopin. :dieshappy: I love playing a lot of contemporary music as well.

This young chap is, indeed, my not-so-little brother! In point of fact, he is bigger, stronger, and soon to be taller than me.

But yeah, I claim this guy, and any creative talent he demonstrates can be attributed to my training. ;)

Hello, Jake! I'm Alyssa, one of the newer members, so this is basically the first time we've ever met. *shakes hand* I'm pleased to meet you. :)

Music is something I love as well. I took some classical guitar lessons several years ago, and then started learning independently, but have not been able to practice as of late. :P So my current involvement where music is concerned is the with a choir group that does mission trips.

See you around! :)

Cool! I have a few friends that play classical guitar, and it's been fun to hear them play. Choir is really fun. I was in one for a Christmas production and it was a blast. :)

Some of the music I listen to isn't quite so well known, so you may not have heard of some of my favorite artists. They include Transatlantic, Kansas, Howard Shore, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Switchfoot, David Crowder*Band, and John Mark McMillan. I've never recorded myself for the Internet or an album, but I've written a few songs with my brother that we might make an album out of someday... *fingers crossed* I enjoy listening to other musicians too, and I'll definitely check out your blog!

Hans Zimmer fan! *high fives* :D I've heard of a lot of them, but haven't heard much - if any - of their music aside from Zimmer. Howard Shore is good too. That's awesome that you write songs! That's one thing I've never been able to do. It'd be great if you made an album.

Hey guys, I can't seem to get Forward to post his stuff (he's a little shy about it), so let's tell him what we're the most interested in learning about!

A) The Mirans
B) The Shroud War
C) 20 powerful elemental angels who's names escape me.

How about the Shroud War to start. Do not be shy! At least, if you are shy, post it so we can all watch you being shy. *grins *

Welcome, Jake. I'm curious: why not Jacob?
I play piano as well, and I play clarinet with school band. I can play Amazing Grace on my brother's guitar, but that's about it. My dad wishes I would sing, but I don't. I'm always amazed when people have taught themselves to play guitar. Piano I can understand, because all the notes look the same no matter where you are on the piano. But guitars are mystifying.
I agree with Patrick -the Shroud War sounds neat. But option C is intruiging as well.

Jake's been gone for two weeks and is still getting back into the loop, so I'll explain for him.

Jake is actually a derivative of John, although it can be used as a pet name for Jacob. But in this case his real, legal name is Jake, not John or Jacob.

One obvious reason that Jacob is a bad idea is that he's my little brother. Wouldn't want him to subvert my place as the bossy first born.

OK, I'll have him post something about the Shroud Wars!

Hello All!

I've been gone for a while (back-to-back camps) and have been in cool-down mode. Everyone seems interested in hearing about the Shroud War, so I will post about it very soon. I might need to provide a little background on the Mirans first, though.

My mom had Jordan and I do part of the WriteShop curriculum once, and Jordan and I have done parts of the One Year Adventure Novel curriculum as well. He and I have had drabble contests before (those are pretty fun :D ) and I participated with NaNoWriMo one year, but I was busy and had to drop it. :(

Fortunately my dad plays guitar, so when I first started out he showed me the basics and I figured it out from there. Once you understand what note you're playing when you fret on a string, it opens up a whole new world. :)

Thanks to everyone for the greetings!
