Post subject:  Templates

Hi all,
I was thinking of making some free templates for authors/creatives specifically, and offering them for download on my website. My question is what these templates would be made for - do most of y'all use Blogger? Wordpress? Just a straight HTML site? I figured I can't go wrong with Wordpress, but I know a lot of people use Blogger, so I thought I'd ask. Perhaps I'll do both. :)

I recently switched from Blogger to wordpress. With blogger's new style I think a lot of people are leaning in that direction as well.

@Katie: *nods* I switched to Wordpress myself: Blogger is trying to make things simpler (sort of like Tumblr, rather than Wordpress), so it doesn't meet a lot of needs anymore. Perhaps I shall stick with Wordpress then.

And yet, I do know many people still use Blogger, like Jonathan. *is still indecisive, and will wait for more people to reply* :)

I am a Blogger person. All my blogs, past and present, have been Blogger. I've also worked with Wordpress, and wasn't crazy about it, so I don't plan on changing. :D Least not soon.

I would personally do both; offer the same template in both styles if you can. If you can do it, I think it's worth offering both for the added market.

I myself use Wordpress incorporated into an HTML site. *should really be working on it right now* Hehehe....

@Aubrey: That's a good idea, but the problem (as always) is time. XD Still, ideally, I'd like to do that.

You could always put a notice on your website saying that you can convert existing templates from one to another, so people know they can request it. Then you can just make it when you have a buyer. :D

I tried WordPress, and found that it was too complicated and didn't allow me to upload/edit themes, so I switched back to Blogger.

Yeah, I think that you should create them for both 'platforms'.

@Aubrey: Actually, I was toying with releasing some free ones, but I might do paid ones, too :)

@Jay: Yup, Blogger is a lot simpler. But right now they're really pushing their own templates and are trying to hide all the customization options and stuff, like uploading your own template. It kind of stinks :P But as long as there is still a way to change a template (and there is), I'll make some templates =D

Wait, Andrew-created awesomeness for FREE? o.O What an offer! :D *thinks Andrew templates are worth paying for*

Post subject:  Re: Templates

Well, for one they'd be simpler templates, not on the level of paying ones. The idea is people would love the free ones so much they'd pay for a premium one ;)
