So, I've been wondering who's doing CollegePlus? Are there any HWers who are also CPers?

I might, eventually, should I decide I want to get any sort of college degree. :)

Awesome! You should. It's a brilliant way to do college. :D

Is it an online program or something?

More or less. It's basically independent study. You take CLEP and/or DSST tests to earn college credit without having to sit in a classroom. After those you take actual college courses from various colleges, relating to the degree you want (online, I think. I haven't gotten that far yet), and finally transfer all the credits you've earned to a final college, from which you graduate. You have a coach who gives you tips/resources for studying the tests, and keeps you accountable. And it all takes about half the time it would for traditional college. :D

Going through College Plus also makes earning a degree less expensive, right?

Yes ma'am. :) And how you study and how long you study is all up to you. :)

Sounds like something I'd like, in that case. ;) Cheap + less time + my own style and pace. I like this very muchly.

Still don't know if I'm going to try to get a degree, and I won't at least for a couple more years, but if I do I'll probably go through them.

Is there an age limit on it, Aris?

I'm not aware of any. There might be, but I don't know of any. :) I know you can start while you're still in high school. I have a friend who's doing it that way. :)

My mom was interested in this thread. She's read some about this and the CLEP tests. She says it might be a possibility for me when I'm in eleventh or twelfth grade. :D

I have heard a lot about CollegePlus, and it sounds great! It is a great counseling system, and their coaches seem to know where to look to help you get a degree that fits your goals. Although at the moment I do not believe that it is the way for me personally to further my education, it is definitely a valid choice. I plan to take Dual Enrollment courses and CLEP tests on my own, without a counseling program such as CollegePlus, but it is something to at least look into and research, along with all of the traditional options! :)

NB: Awesome! :D You must tell me if you enroll. ;)

Laura: Yes, the coaches are great. It's nice to have someone who knows the ropes.

What do you mean by counseling program? Or is that the coaching?

Yes, I meant the coaching. Technically CollegePlus isn't a college, but instead a coaching program. I called it a counseling program because since everything is from a Christian perspective, part of what they are doing is helping you to find your purpose and your dream and to help you fulfill it. I'm glad that the spiritual part of the further education journey is still present there, as it would be at a Bible or Christian College.

Great scot, I didn't know this was here. Fancy it popping up (thanks to Renna), since I've been considering that route.

I'm busy writing and trying to publish my books at the moment, but if ever I decide to get a degree, I plan on using CollegePlus.

Thanks for the link!

There's also a couple of great websites that are starting to offer courses from major universities for free. Coursera.org and EdX.org. In some cases you can receive a certificate for successfully completing a course, and many of them are on demand or repeated throughout the year. They do not offer college credits but it's still useful.

CollegePlus looks cool. I'm looking into ways that I can complete the first few years of college while I save up money to go to a nice school (that happens to be about 20k a year... :x ). I might go to community college as well. It's a blessing to have so many options as a homeschooler!
