Post subject:  Hello!

Hello everyone! My name is Molly Evangeline (pen name I should say). I’m 21 and was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school along with my two younger brothers. I’m an independent author. I started writing when I was eight years old and have just finished publishing the fourth and last book of a Christian pirate series that I’ve been working on for the last few years called Pirates & Faith. Though I love writing historical fiction, my favorite genre is Christian fantasy.

Right now I am working on the second book of a fantasy trilogy. That’s kind of where the name Makilien comes from. I got into fantasy when I first saw Lord of the Rings and made the name up for myself. I’ve now used it for the main character in my trilogy. Though I haven’t read all that much yet, I love to read fantasy. My favorite books besides Lord of the Rings are The Door Within Trilogy and the Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire series.

A couple random things about me: I wish I lived in medieval England, I dream of owning a Friesian horse (the gorgeous black ones you see in medieval films), I’m a cowgirl, I LOVE to sew historical clothing, and I do historical reenactment (Revolutionary War/Buckskinners’ Rendezvous).

I’ve always been terrible at keeping up with forums, but I’ll really make an effort this time. I look forward to getting to know everyone. I’ve already really enjoyed reading some of the great discussions here. :)

Welcome!

Where did you publish your books? Do you have a website? :) What age range are your pirate books for?

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Being independent, I self-publish all my books through CreateSpace (which is part of Amazon). My website is http://www.mollyevangeline.com. I never had a specific age group in mind when I began writing the series, but I'd say young adult, and by that I mean ages 15-25. But I've had much younger kids and older adults read and enjoy them too. I like to write books to be enjoyed by anyone.

Hello and welcome to Holy Worlds! :D :)

I love your name and I look forward to getting to know you :D

P.S. I LOVE to use smileys...can't you tell? :D :)

LOL, Terra...

Your books look interesting, Makilien! How has CreateSpace worked out for you? I have only heard a little about it. Do you have to ship out the books yourself, or does Amazon take care of it?

I bookmarked your site. :) I wished I could read sample chapters online to get a feel for the style!

Curious - on your latest book, who is the actress on the cover? She looks like Guineviera from the Burns family's film Pendragon: Sword of His Father.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I love being in the midst of so many fantasy fans. :D

Melody, I LOVE CreateSpace. It has it's flaws, but it's been great for me. All orders through Amazon and the CreateSpace E-store are printed and ship out automatically. I do order many books myself that I sell to family and friends and at book signings or local bookstores. I'm also signed up with a new distribution company that distributes all self published books. It's called SelfPublisherStore.com.

As for the cover photo, it's actually just a stock photo I stumbled across on Istockphoto.com. I was searching for photos for one of the other books and when I saw the photo I was like, wow, that's almost exactly how I pictured her! :D

Oh, and I haven't gotten around to doing it yet, but I have been planning to put sample chapters of my books on my website. I will let you know when I do. :)

YES! I have found another historical fiction reader/writer!!!!! Happy days! Goodness, I would love to read your stuff! I love pirate/ship stories and historical fiction! I read more historical stuff than fantasy. :3

Congratulations on actually being able to finish and publish something! I have written much finish nothing. (Besides two short stories which are being expanded.)

One thing: Friesians are amazing! I would love to own one myself! A horse (not a pony) in general would be wonderful. ^^ *GASP!* Another rendezvouser! I re-enact too! Our family does about 3-4 rendezvous a year and we host one at the place we live at. (Because of politics it will be coming to an end though.) -_-;

Have a great time exploring the forum!

Post subject:  Re: Hello!

I've read much more historical fiction than fantasy too. I LOVE history. :) That's awesome that you do rendezvous! It's terrible about the politics. :( I visited the rendezvous in our town a couple years in a row and last year was the first year I got to participate. It's actually how we found the church we now go to and love so much (actually, it's still a Bible Study/church plant, and not officially a church quite yet). I met a guy there who was portraying an Objibwe Indian and it turned out he was the speaker that week at church and invited me and my brother. So it was pretty awesome first rendezvous. :D

I love horses too. I've had two. The first one I could not get along with at all and only had for a month. The second one we bought about a year and a half ago, but he died of colic two months ago. :( It was awful. My brother is still trying to deal with it. So my horse experiences haven't been that great, but I still really want another one.

Welcome to Holy Worlds! Hope you enjoy your time here.

I love your avatar, by the way. Actually, there's a Friesian gelding boarded at the stable where my sisters and I volunteer. Friesians are gorgeous; definitely one of the most beautiful horse breeds. Personally, I've got my heart set on a liver chestnut, grulla or dapple gray Arab/Morgan filly. :D

Your books sound interesting. I'll check them out.

Post subject:  Re: Hello!

Oh my goodness! What is the name of the Objiwe speaker because I think I know him! He sort of runs a house church right? :D How awesome would that be if we're talking about the same guy here???!!!???

It sounds like you have had a difficult time with horses, but I bet God had plan for them in your life. ;) You might not have realized it, bet I'm sure something has changed since you got them. With God, there's always a reason even if it's not the thing we want to see or deal with.

One of our outdoor cats was killed over Memorial Day weekend, so I know what you're going through. It probably wasn't as bad. Most of my tears were shed the day we found her in the yard and the next day I was pretty numb. Then I was able to give her over the to Lord for safekeeping. :) I wasn't even as close to her as I am with our indoor cat. I've never had to deal with the death of someone I was close to so I'm afraid I have some tough times coming around. (I have 3 great-grandparents alive still.) My favorite saying ever, "If the Lord brings you to it, He'll bring you through it."

His name is Don Chesney. He goes to Duluth Bible Church. Is he the guy?!

That's really sad about your cat. I have four cats and I'd hate to lose them.

Post subject:  Re: Hello!

LOL, that beats all... (your Indian rendezvous-er) Next thing I know, you two will actually live in the same city and not know it... lol

I have wanted to go to one of Calenmiriel's rendezvous but haven't been able to. :(

I'll have to check out CreateSpace when I'm ready, Molly. I haven't decided whether I'll go the mainstream publisher direction or the selfpublishing... something (like createspace) that gets me an amazon listing is always good - it's so easy to buy from there!

Mmm, you did your own cover design? Neat! :) (I always like seeing nice cover art 'cause my bro does a bunch of photomanip work on GIMP)

Can't wait for you to put up sample chapters! Thanks. :)

Post subject:  Re: Hello!

It is cool isn't it???? :D Sadly, we don't like in the same state. :(

I'll be rendezvousing the rest of my life, I believe. There's plenty of time for you to come visit me at a rendezvous! ;)

I think I'd like to draw my cover art. At least to one of my books so far. I think that would be neat! I just have to learn a thing or two about perspective. I'm thinking about taking a drawing class from one of the leaders in my scout group. :D

Yeah, that's a good question, do you do your own cover art? Or do you know someone who does it for you?

My mom actually does a lot of it for me. I sit and tell her what I want and she puts it all together. I then tweak it a little. Between our combined Photoshop knowledge, I usually get just what I envision. ;)
