Hi everyone,

I love fantasy, folklore, mythology and language, and love writing speculative fiction, especially fantasy. (I've only published a few short stories, nothing big.)

I was thrilled to find this forum as I've been searching for a Christian fantasy forum for a while now.

I'm 24 and live in Gauteng, South Africa. I'm working full-time (as a language practitioner) and studying part-time and trying to fit my writing in as well!

If you have published short stories, you can set your profile field as 'published,' by the way. We aren't picky. :)

So you are into languages? That is a valuable asset here. What languages do you know? Have you made any of your own?

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes, I am into languages! I actually work as a Language Practitioner :D My mother tongue is Afrikaans, but I speak English just as well. I've also studied/am studying Old Norse, Gothic and Dutch and know a bit of Old Danish, Old Swedish and Anglo Saxon. I have started constructing my own languages.

Like Jay said, your knowledge of languages will be invaluable. (But, you would be a valuable member even without knowledge of languages.)

I hope that's a good "oohh she's from South Africa" and not a "ooohhh noooo, she's from SOUTH AFRICA!" Haha! ;)

The one really fictional language I'm making have some influence from the other languages I know or use in the stories. Hey, with eleven official languages in SA it's difficult to have everyone speaking the same language in my stories!!

I also try to show the influences between the languages, and have different dialects, say American English vs British English vs "Souff" African English.

*Gulp* I think I'm addicted to language... :shock:

Language is one of the best things to be addicted to in my opinion.;) Awesome to have you here! Gothic sounds extremely interesting, but I haven't had the self-discipline to really learn about it much.:D
