Post subject:  Greetings, everybody!

I bid you all my greetings on this fine morn. My name is Starcrafter (taken from my work-in-progress) and I am an avid reader, writer, and worshiper.

I love the Lord with all of my heart and I strive to follow Him. My writing is all based from a Christian worldview and you will never, ever find any bad or inappropriate content in it.

I have finished one novel, which my grandmother, who is an author as well - Esther Seaton Dummer, Elusive Faith - is editing. I am currently working on book two of that series.

My main writing genres are fantasy as well as thrillers.

I take piano lessons and have previously taken lessons for the bass guitar. I play the drums at my church; I am starting to lead worship there on occasion.

I am currently reading Precisely Terminated by Amanda L. Davis.

I am signed on to review books with Zondervan's Z Street Team for free. I've already reviewed one, Interrupted: A Life Beyond Words by Rachel Coker, fifteen-year-old author.

I have a Christian blog at www.jointhestarcrafters.blogspot.com

And most importantly, I LOVE JESUS!

~Starcrafter

That sounds really awesome that you can connect with your grandmother through writing.

That's a good philosophy for writing, and one that is unfortunately becoming less common...

It's okay, Lycanis. I'm still colourful.

So, Starcrafter. Have you ever read Narnia? What about Lord of the Rings?

Yes, Aldara, I have read the Chronicles of Narnia. However, I have not read the Lord of the Rings and I probably won't.

Oooh! I haven't read LOtR either and probably won't. Pray tell, do you have any specific reasons why you don't think you will? :D *curious*

That might even make a good topic of discussion: Reasons to Read or Not Read The Lord of the Rings.

Welcome, Starcrafter! *Curtsies*

That does sound like it would be a good topic. I have never read or seen LotR, but I am considering it.

On a fantasy forum, Jonathan? o.O What are you trying to do; make a convenient place for 99% of the HW population to annihilate the minority? ;)

I don't read or watch the Lord of the Rings, because of the use of mythical and mystical creatures in a way that doesn't glorify God, unlike the chronicles of Narnia.

Would you care to explain how there's a difference? I can see how they are different, but what makes it wrong in LotR?

Author:  Starcrafter [ April 24th, 2012, 10:10 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Greetings, everybody!

If not used in a Godly way, then they are just mythical being. And mythical beings aren't Godly.
But if used as in the CoN, they are fantastical creatures created by God.
Another reason I do not read/watch them is because my parents told me that they don't want me to, so I have chosen to honor them. :)

This makes sense, and I agree, but what I meant was, how are they used in an ungodly way in LotR?

I understand and respect that. :D Please don't think that I'm telling you you should read/watch them, I'm just wondering about the details of your view (if you prefer not to talk about it anymore, don't worry about saying so, I don't mind if you don't wanna talk about it, and I don't wanna bother you :) ).

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Starcrafter! I like your username. ^^ How did you design it (other than it being a part of your novel)?

I hope you've been enjoying your time here so far. It's always so encouraging to see so many new members who want to serve the Lord through their writing.

Welcome again!

Post subject:  Re: Greetings, everybody!

Thanks for the welcome, Calen! I think that it was divine inspiration. In fact, that one name that popped into my head was the very foundation of my novel. So now, I normally use it as my usernames, save for a few rare cases.

Also, there are six days left and I need six more followers on my blog. If it reaches thirty followers, then, on May seventh, I will post the giveaway post, on which you can comment to enter. Please follow!
