Many of you know my computer has been on death's door. Well, it died. I mean cold dead. I will be on as best I can, but as always, not having my files complicates things. Community hotel computers are not fun. And when I get home in a week... Let's just hope things get figured out soon. I'm so sorry, guys. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. This complicates writing, it means I'm going to go even more insane here at the hotel.... Pray for my sanity, cause this is possibly one of the worst things that could happen right now. :P

:bawl: This is a good time to use that face.

I'll be praying, Airi. We're going to be missing you around here, and I know how much working on your book means to you. I'll keep praying, and let's trust that God can work this out somehow for the good. Love you xxx

That is rough. I'll be praying and missing you.

I'm assuming everything is backed up, right?

Yeah. :bawl:

I'll be praying too. Definitely a problem. Writer + no computer to write on = not a happy writer. *Hugs* I really hope you can figure something out.

Thanks, guys, I knew you would all understand.

Everything is backed up, Jonathan, except all the work I did on my book yesterday, and the edits I made to the first book. However, I have the scene from the third chapter that I sent you in my inbox (thank you Lord), as well as the second chapter. I made some corrections to the second chapter, and changed the end line in it after I sent it to you, but at least I have something to piece together... The edits for my first book... I'll have to try and salvage all the work I did through memory.

Good news!!! Okay, I have a temporary solution to my computer problem, so I am not actually going to be anywhere. False alarm. Well... sorta. I mean, my computer is in a sorry state, but I have the ability to function. Plus, I recovered all of my book work, thank the Lord! The idea of having to redo all of that was nauseating.

So, I will be getting a new computer, most likely, when I get home. My 7 year old laptop has been good to me, but he has already been fixed multiple times, so it might be time to replace him...

I am a bit inconvenienced with my temporary situation, but I am so grateful!!!!! This is way better than nothing. :D

Yeah, that happened last time my computer crashed. :P Thank God for Randy, because if not for him, my files would have been lost forever. For about three weeks I was told it was impossible to retrieve my files. I backup my stuff to an external hard drive religiously now. :D

I'm thanking God with you, it'd be horrible to lose you're writing, not to mention any other data you might have lost. :D

Yes, I have a external drive I download my files to also, then I have an even bigger external to download the files from the smaller one to. :dieshappy:

That is such good news! I'm glad all your files are safe! A new computer, especially when you're working on your writing, is just what is needed! :D

Hehe. :D

Well... my temp situation is very... complex. See, we were able to get my computer to start back up, after some work, but it's got a laundry list of things it is doing wrong. One of the big issues is that the keyboard now speaks gibberish and messes up everything (now we know why my keys were malfunctioning, guys). Anyways, the lid no longer shuts, some of the blots have now snapped, and so on. A Geek told me to plug in a secondary keyboard and mouse, which has allowed me to bypass my computer's actual functions. This allows me to access my stuff without actually using my computer. so I was able to retrieve all my files. I am still operating off of this, allowing me to use my computer temporarily, without really using my computer. Weird, huh? :D

So... this will only work for a short period of time, especially since my computer is rapidly spiraling out of control, but it works for now, so this is my temporary solution.

@Elanor: I was just about to answer your incredibly generous and helpful PM today, too. :)

Oh, that is good, Airi! I'm so glad you got your files back!

Your temporary solution sounds a bit like my computer... *Glances at the wooden brace her laptop sits on to prop the screen up*

Yeah... it is working off and on at the moment.... It may die before I get home. However, I have my files safe, and that is what really matters to me at the moment. :)

Though you will be missed if that happens, there is a bit of consolation in knowing your files are safe. ;)

*eyes get very big * I find it slightly... fun and also disturbing that people on this forum watch my movements all the time. How in the world did you know I was online, Elanor?!?!?!

So, if you could not tell, my computer officially crashed when I got home. I did not take care of the problem immediately, because there were more pressing needs I needed to take care of involving friends and family, plus, we have 3 friends of ours living with us, and I have been working on helping in that situation.

So, long story short, I have a new computer (hurrah), and it is now fully set up with all my files, all my preferences, and all my programs. I'm trying to get used to the... differences, between this computer and my last one, but things are going well.

I plan on catching up around here by the end of the week (and the other two forums, as well). Then I am going to update my blog, answer e-mails and the 36 pms sitting in my inbox. After all of that, I will be getting back to my book. :)

My Grandma (the one with cancer) is struggling a bit, and I have a billboard and several other jobs I need to paint/do design work for, but I am still going to shoot for getting stuff caught up quickly.

AIRI! :dieshappy: You're back! *Ambushes with brownies*

I thought your computer might have crashed. I admit that Elanor was not the only one tracking your movements.... This morning I mentioned to Elly that you hadn't posted in 14 days and we were both missing you!

I am so glad you are back. :D Good luck catching up on all those PMs, and then I hope you have fun writing!

I checked in on things from my mom's computer a couple times, just to make sure the forums weren't falling apart or I didn't have any crisis pms or e-mails. :D So that is why you saw me in skype. :D

Glad to be back, Jonathan. :D
