Post subject:  Oh hey there...

Hey there, Holy Worlds. I'm "Fyrstar" (Hannah). I'm currently in college, majoring in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I've been writing since I was very, very young, and I tend to write either fantasy or historical fiction...I also like to read fantasy and historical fiction. Because I'm in college currently, I haven't written as much as I would like recently, but I'm hoping that Holy Worlds can serve as an encouragement and an enthusiasm booster.
I'm slightly ADD, so instead of having one or two stories that I focus on, I have started about 50 stories...proof of my ADD and my rampantly running imagination. I've "finished" first drafts in two stories, however that means nothing more than that I've formulated the plot line in wording that is vaguely similar to what I want. Luckily, my writing style has definitely improved so hopefully complete rewriting of my more recent musings won't be necessary.
Anyways...ADD kicking in again :) Currently, I'm focusing on two fantasy novels that I've created (I'm a lot better at creating, mapping and outlining than I am at writing). I've planned out several books in series for both of these, however we'll see if that ever happens.
Hmm...not much else to say...I live on a farm, when I'm home...I do a lot of reading, my three favorite authors being J.R.R. Tolkein, Ted Dekker, and Sir Walter Scott. Those three authors seem incredibly similar, right? Just kidding.
Anyways...if you have questions about me or my writing or my life in general, feel free to ask. =)

Just curious, is your name pronounced like firestar? It sounds intriguing.

I hope you enjoy your stay, and post some of your writing! we would love to see it! :D

Post subject:  Re: Oh hey there...

The purple glitter just made that ten times better :)

Yeah, it's from one of my novel attempts (Glory's Fire), and it is pronounced Fyrstar. In this language, the letter "y" tends to serve the same function as the "i" sound as in fire (I'd give you the IPA for that but I can't remember it right now). The star suffix refers to her status in her world, she is a "starelf" and they, unlike other elves in their world, retain the "star" suffix as a sign of their high status.

Thanks for the welcome!

Walter Scott? I named a character after him recently. I just need to read his books now.

I don't finish a lot of the stories I start either, but I'm working on that problem now that I've lost most of the others.

Yep...one of my many, many stories...it's a favorite, I guess :)

And @Varon, if you are going to read Sir Walter Scott, try Ivanhoe...so good. The Talisman is pretty great as well. Not everybody likes his writings, but if you have any appreciation for classical English literature, it's awesome. Thanks for all the warm welcomes =)

It's supposed to be like medieval epic in a dreamworld with two teenagers, the guy suffers from fear of being hurt, so he has to overcome that, and the girl suffers from something like depression. They're also both in comas in our world as well.

What's yours about?

Post subject:  Re: Oh hey there...

Haha thanks Lycanis :)

And Varon, that sounds cool! I like the idea of being in a coma...that sounds a little like Ted Dekker's idea in his one series, read any of him? Not the same or anything, just vaguely similar.
I have soooo many...it's hard to summarize one, you know? But to try, one of my favorites is in a fantasy world (duh) with five main races (men, elves, centaurs, seers and dragyns). For the first book, it focuses mainly on elves, showing the perspective of one specific character, a she-elf who lives out a prophecy (vaguely). It carries the theme of sacrifice as the definition of love, and shows how God, or Eshyklah, brings goodness out of pain...another one looks at the lives of two characters in the same world who are very different. Their plots intertwine in a trilogy...hopefully. I have an excerpt in another thread =) Sorry for the long explanation. I'm not prone to short answers.

Oh cool! I love Centaurs! Have you developed these races much yet? If you have, you should post about them in the Peoples, Races, and Tribes Section!

I hope to read your excerpt sometime...but don't have time yet, hopefully later today though!

You're stories sound good! Looking forward to seeing them.

Post subject:  Re: Oh hey there...

Yeah, same here about the centaurs. They aren't my main focus, more focused on elves, but I do have basic descriptions of the five races...hopefully I can flesh them out at some point.

Enjoy the excerpt! I'm hoping to post another one sometime soon...I really need the critique and thoughts. =) Thanks!

You're welcome! (If you need help fleshing out a race, I've found that posting what you know about it can help, because then people asking questions helps you think about them in different ways, but whatever works best for you is good!)

No, no, no, no! There's still plenty of room for glitter bombs! The CRPGS only covered the confetti side of it...besides, we should try to cover every type of ordinance we can!
