Hello, most excellent Holy Worlders,

I'm right now writing a paper attempting to address the question, "Is it possible for Christians to play Dungeons & Dragons in a constructive way?"

There are plently of rants and blog posts about this on the internet, but there seems to be little in the way of scholarly papers or published articles detailing various Christian responses to the D&D phenomenon.

(Actually, what was neat was what came up first on one of my google searches... )

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone could point me to some websites or link me to any published articles or scholarly papers that argue for/against use of D&D by Christians. If not, thanks anyway...the research continues... :D

That sounds like an interesting paper. :D I don't know of any resources for it, though.

(Aubrey will be pleased with the results of that one search, I'm sure.)

Theres Phili right at the top! :D

No published resources for you, cephron. I can see what you mean not wanting to just use opinions. Ask your pastor, or other scholarly-type people in your church community. They might be able to help with finding books, articles, etc.

Progress report--found a decent article or two. Ironically, one of them is titled pretty much exactly the same as this thread:
"A Christian Response to Dungeons and Dragons"

@Aldara: I suppose I could try that, but I already have access to scholarly databases like EBSCO, which is probably more than I could get from asking around in church. I'm asking on here more in case anyone here has researched this subject. *shrug* I just thought that D&D is a subject that members of a Christian fantasy-writing community might have engaged with before. ^_^
