Is anyone else sad that the (massive) David Crowder* Band album that was released today is the band's final work? Has anyone else been touched by their music? I, for one, have hugely enjoyed worshiping God by singing along with their music, and many of their songs have really made me think about death, the fact we don't need to worry about it or anything else. They've also helped me re-visualize God's majesty, and the wonderfulness (hmm, that looks insufficient...) Wonderfulness (still insufficient, but so are all earthly words, no matter how big they are) of the Gospel, which is something I need, since I've been "hearing without hearing" and "Seeing without seeing" it for what it is. Has anyone else found that music (specifically David Crowder's, but any other artists are ok too of course) has helped them 'see' God in a new, glorious light?

I really liked this band. :D They had a lot of really nice songs, and I was a bit sad to see them leaving.

Yes, some of my favorites are: SMS [shine], Shadows (has really helped me in the shadowy parts of life), Wholly Yours, Come Awake, and the list goes on, and on, and on. :) But my latest favorite is their single 'let me feel you shine', at the time I downloaded it, I had been struggling horribly with how little I seem to appreciate Christ for what he has done, and how I've taken for granted all of his mercies...It got so bad I told my parents to pray for me because I was sinking deeper into depression than usual (usually it was just the sort of thing you get over quickly, like being bored). God brought these lyrics to mind:

"This place is trying to break my belief
But my faith is bigger than all I can see
What I need is redemption
What I need is for You for to put me back on my feet

I swear I'm trying to give everything
But I feel I'm falling, oh make me believe
What I need is resurrection
What I need is for You to put me back on my feet

(those two verses were how I was feeling at the time, the chorus below was the solution for my situation)

If I could feel You shine Your perpetual light
Then maybe I could crawl out of this tonight
If I could feel You feel You shine
Oh let me feel You shine
So beautiful and warm
So beautiful and bright
Like a sun comin' out of a rainy sky
Oh let me feel You shine Oh,
Let me feel You shine"

God brought these lyrics to my mind when I was gloomily getting ready for bed and wondering how long it would take me to settle down and go to sleep. After thinking about these words, and their meanings, and how they are so consistent with the Gospel, I slept great! ^_^

But I'm also glad that they are stopping when they see that God is ready for them to move on.

Yeah, I love the couple songs that I've heard by David Crowder.

The song Set Me Free by Casting crowns is one of my favorite songs. I also like sone of the songs by Fireflight, Superchick, and BarlowGirl.

I will have to look up the songs you mentioned, I have struggled with depression too.

I like the song 'Set Me Free' too! Yeah, the DC*B has really made some good music. It's amazing how God can use music for such good things like encouragement and edifying thought. Here is a music video for SMS [shine], it's probably my favorite ever.
I hope God helps you conquer depression when it attacks like he has helped me. God bless!

Yes yes! Definitely check them out! Just keep in mind they won't be making any more music, :bawl: at least not as the David Crowder* Band...

I like that one too. :) That is actually the first one of his that I heard, I was on pandora and it came up. I wasn't used to the music style, and (my stupid tendency to judge by appearances) was disturbed by the way he looked. But praise God I LISTENED to the words and I really liked them, I was like, "Wow, he really thinks about his lyrics. *thumbs up*". Some of my new favorites are 'Sometimes', 'Oh, Great God, Give Us Rest', 'Let Me Feel You Shine', Fall On Your Knees' , 'Come Find Me,...and quite a few more, all from the new album 'give us rest (or a requiem mass in c [the happiest of all keys]. These songs have brought tears (sometimes of joy, other times of conviction) to my eyes, and I don't cry that often. Music is a very, very, powerful thing...thank God for it and people like those in the DC*B. :D

*smiles * it is truely awesome how God chose to work through you through this band. After all, God didn't create us to be joyless christians! By the way, I had never heard of this band before, but I am checking it out and listening to it. :)

I know! Especially when I'm depressed, I tend to try and suppress my emotions and I think these people's music has helped me to think through and face them when I need to.
God is amazing.
I like how you say God didn't create us to be joyless Christians, that is so true, he provides what we need when we're down!
Cool! I hope you are blessed by their music too! Feel free to express your thoughts on some of their songs here if you want, I like to hear what others think! :dieshappy:

I can really see that he does as well! It's amazing to see what a big influence music has on its listeners... negative or positive, uplifting or not. His influence is definitely positive. :D
