It's like a HW heritage!

I've an interesting story. Prior to HW, my main writing community came from a group of highschoolers traversing the WriMo communities. They're weren't a very healthy lot. I got burned. I decided to quit WriMoing only to get away from these people. I'd already signed up for NaNo, and decided it would be my last month.

It was on NaNo that Varon posted about HW. HW has been a literal answer to prayer and a wonderful healing place.

I got here because Lady Artemis goes to my school, and when she found out that I liked to write, she told me to check out Holy Worlds! And now I absolutely love it!

I wasn't going to join over here, but looky, I did it anyway.

Let's see... the first time I heard about Holy Worlds was over a year ago. Andrew sent me (along with several other people) an email around the time he joined HW (or it might have been November of that year, I'm not sure) saying that he had joined this awesome writing forum and that we should too. I didn't get on the Internet often then, so I looked at the email briefly and decided to ignore it.

Months later (or only one month if he sent that email in November), Andrew and I were sleeping over at his cousins' house. During the time we were there, Andrew took his computer and told me, "You're getting on this forum." He then signed himself out of the forum and started writing my profile (all the while I sat to the side blinking a few times wondering what was happening that was too fast for me to take in).

When it came time to pick a name for the forum, I had no clue what I wanted. So, Andrew got on an Elvish names website and we picked my real name's Elvish translation: Suiauthon. A few minutes later I was staring blankly at Andrew's computer screen trying to figure out what one actually put in one of these "Introduction threads" (Which Andrew was no help in. His advice on what to write? "Introduce yourself!").

When I was finally done with that thread (and I put that traumatizing experience behind me), I started to look around the forum a little. But I was in way over my head. All the forums and buttons and... other confusing things had me very confuzzled. Because of the confusion, I didn't get on frequently and only became active several months later once I became used to everything on the forum.

I believe that Andrew heard about the forum from a thread on the Rebelution forum, so my chain would be Emeth>Andrew>Suiauthon.

This has always been an interest to me: How did you find out about HW? Friend, sibling, parent, random google search, etc. . . ? How I found HW: Donita K. Paul, author of the Dragon Keeper Chronicles, has a website with a chat room. On most Mondays she is on at a specific time to chat with her readers. Either the first or second time I was on there, Samson Soldier, (then Angelsword) and I started PC-ing. (One of us mentioned Bryan Davis, and one PC-ed the other. . .I can't remember who started it.) We eventually got on the topic of writing, and he highly encouraged me to look up Holy Worlds. I've been happily here ever since! So that's how I got here. I got here mainly through Lady Alina Isra, my RL friend, but there are two other people who assisted in that who deserve a mention. Back in July, Seer wrote a poem. Lullaby. You probably remember. It was such a wonderful poem, and then later Vanya played a wonderful recording of that poem, made into a song, on her harp. Alina found the poem and listened to the song, decided it was awesome and told me, who was on gmail, that I should listen to it. So thus a link to HW was passed to me, but since it was in the fireside I had log in to view. Thus I went on to Alina's account to listen to the song and loved it, (And still listen to it and love it) then before logging out I crept around a bit and investigated you guys. The next day or the day after, I joined! Ta-da! So, Seer and Vanya, even though you didn't know it. You had something to do with my joining.

I got here through a series of events. A friend of mine told me about YWP nanowrimo, and I looked at it and joined. (Back in the day, it was a very fun and friendly place.) After it became... not-so-fun and not-so-friendly (plus, I got too old for it and was told by the admin, in short, "time for you to move out"), Varon started a thread about HW, and I had a look at it. At the time I saw it, I didn't join because I wasn't a fantasy writer, but later on, since I didn't have a writing forum to be active on anymore, I joined. That's how I turned up here.

KathrineROID started a thread about HolyWords on the ywp NaNo site last year, and I investigated. Then I lurked for half a year before joining you. Yes, half a year. That's how long it takes for my family to have enough time to read the missions statement on a website.

Hee hee. There are a couple of people on that website that are on here, and a couple more people who were on there that know of HW. Lady Meriwen (which is her username here, too, methinks) is the one that did most of the prodding towards my joining. It's a great website, especially for Narnia lovers.

The Rebelution forums. I think someone on there had asked about writing fantasy as a Christian. Someone responded with this link, and I was like, "8'D" - particularly after I was welcomed with several explosions of glitter.

I don't remember. It was through Facebook though, since I befriended Emeth before HW was set up as one of those supporters who just prop things up, but didn't join for quite a while afterwards.

She was constantly going on about HolyWorlds and modding and Jonathan and Bushmaid and poetry books and sci-fi, etc., etc., etc. Technically, my first introduction was through the character fractalling system, which I was introduced to over a year ago by Mel -- she emailed it to me and said it was a system made by "a friend of Victor's." (I can only assume she meant Jay) I used that for awhile, then started hearing more and more about it. I finally ended up joining over on sci-fi, so I could join the Read-a-Thon. I wasn't going to join over here, but looky, I did it anyway.

I found out about this forum through Jay's post on the Rebelution. So to make a long story short I joined in NOV 09, and yes that was before greetings with glitter and the passing and giving of treats.

I found HW through the Rebelution, like a bunch of other people. After being here for a couple months, I finally convinced my brother, Griffin, to join! I introduced another friend, Galadriel, to HW too, but she never posted. Last year, somehow (I don't quite recall how) I got pulled into the "Christian speculative-fiction writing scene", perhaps starting with Speculative Faith. At one point last summer someone mentioned HW in a comment over there, and then I saw a link, and so investigated ... and for some reason decided to join.
