Hello, a while ago I had the idea to combine several dessert recipes into one dessert!

If you could post your favorite homemade dessert, what you like about the flavor, and the recipe, I will post a combined recipe in a few weeks!

Ooo, sounds yummy!

One of my favorite desserts to make is brownies. The recipe isn't mine, I found it in an amazing book (Brownies to Die For, by Bev Shaffer). They're called Simple Fudgy Brownies, and they're really good. They've got a rich, deep chocolate flavor, and the perfect fudgy-brownie texture (they never get too dry).

Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

4 oz unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped (note, I use semi-sweet chocolate chips and just cut back on the sugar)

2/3 cups unsalted butter (another note, I don't have unsalted butter. I use salted and don't add salt later)

2 cups granulated sugar (I cut back to 1 and 1/2 cups)

4 large eggs, lightly beaten

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 and 1/4 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt (I never add this)

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, lightly toasted (of course, this is optional. Some people in my family don't like nuts)

Note, I also add about a cup of chocolate chips.

Instructions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9 baking pan.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring to blend. Remove pan from heat and whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and nuts (and chocolate chips!). Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until the brownies just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan. Brownies will be dry if overbaked. Let pan cool slightly. Cut into squares. Makes about 2 dozen (that depends on how big you make the squares)

Enjoy!
