Well, my Beta readers, and all the supportive people in my life, will be very happy to know that this weekend my Daddy and I are leaving on a book trip. Not a book trip, but THE book trip.
The time has finally come for me to move into the next stage of being a writer. Publication. Big scary word.
My Daddy does a birthday weekend with each of his children every year. My birthday weekend was put on hold for a bit, but we are now taking our trip. This year we are focusing on my book. It’s ready. As ready as it can be at the moment. I finished my final run through of it and altered a few more things till it is as perfect as humanly possible. Now I will be reading the first book in my trilogy to Daddy. He’s never actually read the story. He’s heard me talk about it, and the boys rave over it (good little brothers that they are), but he’s never actually sat down and read it from front to back. I am in the process of printing it out and getting it all nice and ready. We will also be discussing how I plan on going forward into the publishing world. For multiple reasons I want to go the traditional publishing route instead of self publishing. So, Daddy and I have to discuss the need of an agent and other such niceties that you must have to go through this process.
I’m rather nervous over having Daddy read the piece. For some reason this is different than my Beta Readers. This is my Daddy. My idol (in the non deity sense). He lives with me day in, day out. I don’t know, I’m just nervous. Which is an unusual sensation for me.
I will be gone most of Friday, all of Saturday, and will be back Sunday night.
I trust ya’ll to be good while I’m gone and you not burn anything down.
