Post subject:  My Song, Autumn Years

Ok, this song was written by my Mother for my Dad, the music was composed by my sister, Kathy, and I'm singing it. I know some people aren't allowed on You Tube, I haven't time right now but either later on or tomorrow I'll do it in MP3 format so you can hear it. :)

Let me know what you think, and here are the lyrics.

When Spring began for us
Loves bloom did grow
Life was a fairy tale
Passion aglow
Two lives in unity
Full and complete
Then we became as one
Our journey had begun.

Now that Autumn has come
Now we’ve mellowed into one
And Winter’s not gripped us yet
But Autumn leaves must fall

Summer was beautiful
Sunny and warm
We had a family, built up our home
Storms came with thorns amongst
The beautiful blooms
But that’s where we passed the test
Through the power of our love

Now that Autumn has come
Now we’ve mellowed into one
And Winter’s not gripped us yet
But Autumn leaves must fall

Tears flow when lives are torn
Severing loves bond
Scorched by the summer heat
Spirits burned cold
A cracked earth where no life grew
Their paths rent in two
They never reached the Autumn years
When laughter fills the heart

Autumn brings mellow shades
Lifes seeds now gone
The evening mist the morning mist
Gently fingered by the sun
Now just the two of us
Have much more time
The laughter this brings is like
The freshness of new wine

Love is all Love is strong
Love’s a power that keeps hold
And when Autumn is finally ore
Love will be our Winters song.

W. O. W. That was absolutely precious and beautiful!!!! You have a lovely voice, and the images and music were exquisite, too. It's hard to believe that such talent can be concentrated in one family... Lovely.

@Elly Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.

@Milly Thanks :dieshappy:

@Jon Thanks you, Jon; I know you have waited for a long, long time to listen to this! I can't believe I finally got it all posted.

@Joel Thank you!

@Estar  Thank you, it took me hours to synchronise all the lyrics to the pictures! Literally, it definitely took me over four hours to find all the right pictures and get it all posted! We had seen so many Christian couples divorced recently and Mother said one day that they hadn't got to the Autumn Years with their husbands, and she said she was there with Dad now and they laughed at each other all the time over anything and were so happy. So she wrote a song to him which I thought was lovely; Kathy had already composed the music and it fit perfectly so it seemed to come together so well.

Wonderful, Elanor! :dieshappy: I really like it!

Shouldn't this be in the Arts Guild?

Thank you, Mae! :D

It isn't at all fantasy related, which was why I put it in GD. :D The description of the Arts Guild says 'All Fantasy Non writing creations'. :)

That was wonderful, Lady Elanor! I can't even explain how much I enjoyed hearing it. The melody was sweet and flowed so nice, and your voice was outstanding! I am really glad I got to hear it.

Wow, Lady E, you have an incredible voice! Do you have other songs on YouTube I could listen to? Are you wanting to become a singer? :)

  Thank you, Nemo! Mother and Dad are always trying to persuade me to take up singing professionally but I don't have enough confidence to, I don't think.

Thanks! Sure, here are my other songs.

And also this one, Some of the pictures are rubbish. :) My little sister did this video hehe.

Lady Elanor! Don't fool yourself! Don't be intimidated! You can do ALL things through Christ. I think you have an incredible gift. Don't let your talent hide! Let it shine for God! :D I have confidence in you. ;)

One thing you might want to do is ask people if your sister could compose melodies for their poetry on here, and then you could sing it! I would love to see that...Another idea: create a music version of the HW poetry book! That would be really neat, too. :D

Beware, dear Glitter Eater, that you probably will be receiving pokes from me to continue your singing! ;) :D

(If anything seemed upsetting in this post, I did not intend that. Please let me know if I was. I would love to improve if I did. ;) )

That song is beautiful, Elanor. And it's cool the way it was a family effort. :)

I must say, I love the way you sing those low notes. :) Where my high soprano would be straining, your voice just dropped down with no trouble at all. :D

There was a big smile on my face the whole time I read your post, Nemo. It was so encouraging, and nothing upsetting about it at all. Thanks for being so kind. We (Kathy and I) are hoping at some point, to do a Christian CD, Dad keeps saying I should use my singing to glorify God as well, so if I do record another song it will probably be something along those lines. :)

The only problem is that Kathy composes and then I put the words to it etc etc, she finds it harder to look at lyrics and then compose as it must feel restrained somehow. She has several pieces though, I could see if any of them fit with the rhythm of the poems. Also she is really busy and although she is a member here I can hardly ever drag her on.

I like my second name, my full name is Lady Elanor, The Glitter Eater. (Random and off topic *coughs*) :dieshappy:

Thanks! I know, well Mother heard Kathy's composing and she went, Oh I can think of a song for that, and then just wrote the lyrics. It was quite fun! It was terribly fun recording it, and learning to harmonise! I've never done that before.

Thank you, Aemi! Mother says it sounds quite husky when I sing low and she likes it. When I had a singing teacher she always tried to make me get rid of the husky sound when I hit low notes, but I never could for some reason!
