I'm sure many of us fantasy nerds have either grown up with or at least seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We love the musical numbers, were scared to the bone by the Child Catcher (Personally, I think he's an epic villain, right up there with Regis Blackgaard. I never was creeped out by him...), thought that the court people and those old guys in the workshop were really weird, and actually believed that Truly Scrumptious was a doll on a music box. And, for the girls, you at one point in your life probably wanted to become Truly Scrumptious when you grew up.

Any who, I was talking with a few people in chat and came up with the idea of an HW movie night! All of us with the movie could set up a date and time to watch it, and then go into chat and talk with each other commenting on the movie as it's playing. Of course we can have text sing-a-longs, quoting favorite quotes, and discussing the different parts.

So, what do you think? Do you want to have a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie night? If so, comment below, and we'll work towards setting up a date and time!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is family friendly though, and it has Dick van Dyke in it (I think).

I loved this movie as a kid. Van Dyke and Julie Andrews are hilarious together. They made a great pair in several movies. I could probably do this. What are we doing?

What we'll do is choose a day and time when we can watch the movie together, log into the chat room, start our movies at the same time, an discuss/quote/sing-a-long to/and whatever else we can think of with the movie in chat. So, the first question would be: What dates and times work for those who want to do this?

I could probably do it the 24th or 25th. The 30-7 I'm out of town. Does this work for all of you?

3:00ish EST? Is that too early? Our Church gets out at about 11:30 AM so we get home relatively early. However, if it needs to be more like 5:00 or 6:00, that would be fine, too.

I can do whatever day works for anybody else! I did the time zone converting and 3:00 pm where Nemo lives would be 1:00 pm where I live. So that works fine!

Well, I have fellowship after church every Sunday (we eat together). So I don't get home until 3:30ish. And I'm CST.

Anyhow, Mae, the site that I found the film on, it's not a nice site totally, in that it has some weird films (and pop up adverts) on it so I am careful about what I click on; therefore I am very loathe to give out any web address for it. You'd have to check with your parents first (unless you're an older person) and I might PM it you if you still want it. I hope you don't mind! It isn't a site I would recommend, just one I am using on this occasion since I have found it there.

Well, some people in America were holding a meeting at 7PM their time that they wanted me to go to, but it would be 3am my time. So I'm guessing it would be 2 am here, if it's 6 am for you. It's fine I'll just watch it before.

I really liked Chitty Chitty Bang Bang--lovely idea, great actors, wonderful music. There was the one scene with the queen of that imaginary land that was a little skimpy for my mom's tastes, though.

Actually, Nemo, believe it or not, I've read the book! It is seriously *way* better than the movie. Different, of course. But in the book there wasn't all this nonsense about a dream. In fact, the family apprehends smugglers while riding Chitty in France! Highly recommend the book, for those who can secure a copy (forget where I read it...).

That's actually really awesome, Even!!! I want to read the book. But, no matter what happens in the book, I will always love the movie! Also, I liked the dream, because that meant that Chitty wasn't *really* magic and so I could watch it. Or it was that I thought it was a special car... anyways, I still would like to read the book.

Probably not, though I might drop in on chat to see how much fun y'all are having.
