My wardrobe apparently originally belonged to a hotel. My husband asked me yesterday whether I would insist on moving it to the guest bedroom after I hang up the "Spare Oom" sign.

Thanks for the link; I haven't followed much of Jason Gray's music (except "So Long, Self" which has been on the radio for a couple years now - or at least they played it so much it feels like it. XD) but ought to.
He has something with "Everything sad is coming untrue" in it - haven't heard the song yet but mean to. Just because that is one of the best lines of LotR. XD

Okay, I can't say I quite understood too much of it, as I have little history in fantasy, but that really amused me.

The first thing I thought when he said the mithril chain mail gives him +1 strength and agility was "No, it would be at least a +5!"

Come to think of it, that isn't necessarily true. Narnia doesn't have a slower time than our world, it has a completely different time than we do.

He would have to have been in Narnia for a pretty long time for have to never come out...

I was thinking it was from the 100 Cupboards trilogy, actually. That makes sense to me, anywho... The Evil Queen didn't strike me as one from Narnia.

My point is that he could have been in Narnia for 10 minutes and come back 10 years later.

No, he couldn't have... Narnia's time runs faster than ours. So one year over here is a thousand over there and so on... To my memory, there isn't an account where it worked the opposite way, but then again, it's been a bit since I read all the books...

And the wardrobe doesn't work if you are expecting it to work. Although it worked in the movie...

I could be remembering wrong (it's been awhile since I read the books too ) but I've always remembered the emphasis Lewis placed on how Narnia didn't have a faster time, it had a completely different time. The Professor shows how the fact that the world Lucy found in the wardrobe runs on a different time then Earth is the thing that makes the world so believable. If Narnia's time always ran faster than Earth, that would imply that Narnia had the same time as Earth, just sped up.

To my memory, I can't recall a time when Narnia's time is specifically mentioned as being slower than Earth's time... *thinks*
But I just remembered a time when it is implied.
In-between PC and VDT, 1 year goes by for Earth and 3 years go by for Narnia. In-between VDT and SC, less than 1 year goes by for Earth and 49 years go by for Narnia.
Narnia time has gone much slower compared to Earth time.

(Lewis might have pointed that out in SC, but I can't remember if he did )

That can't be right. Edmund entered into the wardrobe without any belief in Narnia and he fully expected to catch Lucy inside. He was in for a rude (and very cold) awakening.

True, true... Perhaps Lewis never figured out the complications of having a temperamental, magical wardrobe without any laws of when it'll work?

Lucy went into the Wardrobe at night to see if it was a dream, IIRC.

Yes, Lucy did go into the wardrobe to see if it was all a dream...I read that entire chapter this morning to try and figure things out...

Maybe he did deep down inside think Lucy was telling the truth but hid it all up with his teasing and rudeness.... ? Just a stray thought....

In PC, one year went by on earth while one thousand years went by in Narnia. So Narnia's time actually just runs faster than ours.

Also, in the Magicians Nephew, they went into Narnia, came back, and it was exactly the same time it had been when they left. Same thing in The Lion, The Witch, and Wardrobe.


And.. My ML instincts just poked into me... Is this a derailment?

My point was with the difference between VDT and SC. I knew that Narnia time was faster in-between PC and VDT and was just trying to contrast the two successive books (now I realize that was confusing ).

Narnia time is faster in all the books and between all the books except for the period between VDT and SC.


I asked Jonathan before I wrote those two earlier posts and he wasn't sure, so I continued.

Well, considering we haven't gotten corrected yet...and I'm an ML so I should be doing the correcting anyways, I'm gonna guess this is on topic since we are discussing about whether or not the video would be realistic if he went to Narnia. (Wait...that sounded weird. )
