Our apologies to all members who received the spam from "Mother Justina" a.k.a. "Justina Ohera" a.k.a "big-liar-who-thinks-we-have-no-brains."

The user has been deactivated and her PMs should be ignored. We apologize again for the inconvenience,

Sincerely,
Reiyen referring to himself as "we"

All unread private messages by the spammer have been removed.

And for future notice, if you ever get an email or something with the kind of storyline the spammer posited... ignore it, it's spam, trust me. It's the most classic identity theft scam in the book. :)

It's possible to do a mass-PM.

I thought the whole embassy in Ghana was a classic one. I'd heard of it before.

I'm probably being too curious, but what did the PM say?

I was wondering that also...

Post subject:  Re: Spammer Unmasked

I still have it because I read it before it was removed. . . . because we know what it is, and if I remove their contact info, could I post it? Just because, when you think about it, it's almost interesting that someone would sign up here for that purpose. :P

Is she related to the King of Nigeria? I got an email from him once too. ;)
I got a PM from her too. "Dearest of the Lord"? I certainly smelled something aground at the circle K. Thanks for the good work those involved in taking "Mother Justinia" off the HW premises.

"Dearest of the Lord?"

Well, I'm glad all of that is over. :)

I missed the show. :D I logged on, saw the pm, saw that the pm had been deleted, and saw that the user that had sent it was deleted too! :D I guessed something of this kind was up.

Post subject:  Re: Spammer Unmasked

I got a PM from her entitled "Dearest to the Lord" but it was already deleted once I got to it. Pity. ;)

Is it possible that what the PM said could be posted? :)

Yeah, I'm curious what it said...

Post subject:  Re: Spammer Unmasked

I removed the contact info, so I hope it's ok to post. I got to it before it was deleted, so mine is still in my messages.

:P The weird thing is that on the profile of this person it said Male. A male mother Justina? Anyway, the problem is taken care of, but here it is to ease the curiosity of others.

Quote:
Dearest in the lord,

I am Mrs Justina Ohera from Sierra Leone.I am married to late Mr. Benjamin Ohera, who worked with Sierra Leone Embassy in Ghana for Twenty-Six years before he died in the year 2003,after a brief illness that lasted for only five days. We were married for Eighteen years with a daughter (Mary) who later died in a motor accident. Before the untimely death of my husband,we were both born again Christians(from Muslim to Christianity). And since after his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of (US$2.5M )Two Million,Five hundred Thousand United States Dollars) in a General Trust Account with a prime bank in Ghana. Presently, this money is still with the bank. Following my ill health, being a victim to cancer , I have decided to donate this fund to a Christian organizations (Church or person) that will utilize this fund the way I am going to instruct herein, according to the desire of my late husband. I want this fund to be used in Christian Activities like,Orphanages,Christian schools, and Churches for propagating the word of God and to endeavor that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that "Blessed is the hand that giveth". I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don't want my husband's efforts to be used by unbelievers.I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way. This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that "the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace". As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the bank here in Ghana. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life as well commit me into your daily prayers. Contact me on this e-mail address:(Email removed)any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another Church for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein. Hoping to receive your reply immediately .
Remain blessed in the Lord.

Sister Justina Ohera,
Adress removed.

 That sounds so. . . cheesy. Insincere. Fake. "Dearest in the lord"? I mean, seriously? Who's not going to spot that? I've heard the whole embassy-in-Ghana-with-large-sum-of-money-in-bank story before. I mean, this Justina person couldn't think of anything more creative?

Just because it was a spammer does not mean it was a bot. The two are separate from each other.

Post subject:  Re: Spammer Unmasked

A bot is not a person and may be utilized by some to spam. However, it is mostly used to track and retrieve and organize links for search engines or the like. A bot would not have organized a message like that, as it would not have been technically capable. Based on how this user filled out the required fields, the spammer was an actual person or at least there was a person behind it all.

Spams like this are generally sent out by the billions in hopes that a few people will actually fall for it. It works.

 Gracious, really? Now I don't know when/where/how I learned about internet spam-scams. I was younger than 10, I know that much, and it wasn't a "let's sit down and talk about internet safety" talk or anything like that; I wasn't on the internet until I was eleven, and I know I knew before then. Strange. I kinda assumed everyone with an IQ higher than that of a boiled cabbage picked these things up. . . XD

Hard to believe if someone hasn't posted once, have been on for three years and now decides to start sending messages is fairly legit.
