Post subject:  Greetings

Greetings all.

My name is Peter and I'm 18 heading into college this semester with which I am extremely excited about. I have very little experience writing, however, when I do write, this is the kind of writing that I normally write and have started a book but never really got that far.

I enjoy reading Christian fantasy books such as Dragons in our Midst by Brian Davis, I also read the dragon series by Donita K. Paul, and then also the Seven Sleepers Series. Let’s not forget to mention Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to PM me and I'll be glad to answer. I look forward to helping out with this forum and helping to work on this story that I know God has a greater plan and purpose for in the long run. God bless all of you.

Peter

Yes my current work is fantasy, however, I don't think that I will get that far on it to be honest.

Haha. Yes, very much. ;) And the author of that series is Gilbert Morris.

Is there a specific thread or five you're curious about, or do you want to know what the individual forums are for? If you were looking for a specific kind of thread, I can help you find the appropriate section. We are happy to help in any way possible. :D

Well... All of it. Haha. I really don't understand most of the organization of the forum yet, so I'm still trying to find my way around. Plus, I'd like to get started on working on something so I can actually be productive since that's why I joined. However, I yet do not know how to help or what to do.

Post subject:  Re: Greetings

Okay, here we go! Let me know if this answers your question, or if you have additional queries. :D

The top section, “The Citadel,” is HW’s database. :) Announcements has, um, announcements, so be sure to read all the new stuff! If you have a question about HW, first check The Library to see if there’s a thread with an answer; if not, post in Q&A.

You mentioned wanting to get involved. Definitely check out Holy Worlds Projects. There’s all kinds of threads in there for HW’s various projects ‘n things, and there’s always something you can help with!

The next section, “Scholar’s Hall,” is like a big library of world-building stuff. Each forum is designated to a different area of world-building – animals, culture, geography, etc. If you want to share a feature from your story, post it here! Or you can browse around and comment on other people’s threads. Realms Beyond is where members can have their very own subforum for their fantasy world, so you might have fun browsing around there.

Also in the Scholar’s Hall is Essence, which is a system invented by the Lausers (the family of Sir Emeth, our admin). It’s a way of capturing the “feel” of any given item and describing it to others. It’s complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s fun! If you have any questions about that, post in the subforum or PM Eruheran, Sir Emeth, or Seer. They’re the essence experts. :D

The next section, “The Village,” is mostly story-development. Fireside is for story excerpts; The Watchtower is for reviews of published works; Village Lore is general writing theory and tips; Herald’s Hall is all about publishing; The Forge is about general story-development (with subforums for Naming and Character Development); and Quests is challenges! :dieshappy:

Also in The Village is Village Common, where members can collaborate on works. Below that is Triterrus, which is HW’s community story/universe. If you’re looking to join up on a project, both of those subforums are good places to look!

Lastly, we have “The Courtyard,” which is all fun and games. ;) You’ve obviously figured out what Introductions and Promotions is for. General Discussion is for edifying threads that don’t fit anywhere else. The Arts Guild is the place to post art, music, photography, etc. Signing on & Singing Off is the place to post if you’ll be leaving the forum for awhile.

And that’s it! Did that help? Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. *offers cupcake*

Post subject:  Re: Greetings

Why thank you madam. Don't mind if I do. *eats cupcake*

But yes, thank you for that explanation. :) It would be nice if there was like a thread or something that explained the forum and the organization of the forum for newcomers. Definately be helpful. :)

Well, I'll start looking around for something to do unless someone has something for me to do. Haha. I just like to be busy.

No, you aren't. But Now I'm wondering where the walruses went... I must have missed something.

Welcome, Clefspeare! That's a cool name. It took me a couple seconds, but as soon as I tried to spell your name I thought of Shakespere. I know, it's not even spelled the same. In any case, welcome here. Nice to meet you.

 Boy, I sure don't get around the Intros and Promos thread as often as I used to.... Sorry for the late welcome. Anyways, here it goes. ;)

*Blows boatswain whistle announcing the arrival of Clefspeare* *Salutes* :salute: Welcome aboard Holy Worlds, mate!

I have a thread in the Q&A forum called Confused, overwhelmed, and lost ones and relatively newbies. I have a couple threads up explaining some confusing/overwhelming processes we have on here, and I'd love for you to join them! I also have further posts in the thread with encouragements and suggestions on how to get involved with the forum. If you want me to add a post in there about how the forum is set-up and how it works, I'd be happy to.

Once again, welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay here!
