Hello. My brother (Inesdar)(Brendan) dragged me onto these forums I'm writing a book right now, I don't if it is really fantasy or not. It has giant rats and lizard men, but other than that it could almost have been from history. I'm not very constant with my stories I have so many ideas and I find it hard not to jump from one to another. I like complex plots with with long lost siblings, that are very dramatic. About me: I'm 15, homeschooled, older than 5 of my sibling and kind of share being the oldest with my older brother. When I'm not writing I'm listening to audio books, making jewelry that I'm trying to sell on Etsy, I have to do school work (of course) and I do all the cooking for my family, and love taking pictures. And that fills up my time pretty well. Moderator's Note: Fixed several spacing and punctuation errors. |

Welcome, Fiona! Seems like your story is similar to my own, with a little bit of fantasy but not quite a fantasy story perhaps? |

I'll have to check that out when I have the time, Fiona, when I do, I'll let you know my thoughts! You are going to Ireland?! That is SO cool. I have wanted to go there since I was little... though when I was little it was because I wanted to see a leprechaun. Also, it isn't hard to take pictures of yourself. You can use a desk or something high to stand it up on (the camera that is). There are lots of inventive ways to go about it... what I do (since I am the family photographer) is find exactly where I want it (usually among the trees) and then I get my sister to come help. I put in her hands then move it exactly as I want it. Then I get to my spot, she pushed the button, and perfect (Well, eventually) portrait for the yearly pic. |

Hi Fiona! If you want to know, you can always change your username via the user control panel, so despite your brother's opinion, you can make yourself Lady Fiona. Believe me, I have three brothers of my own, so I know how that is That's neat that you make jewelry, I love the pieces which you made. I'm trying to make things like earrings and bracelets, but they aren't as good as I'd like them to be. Glad you're on HW. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad your brother forced you on. Welcome! |

Lady Shanai-Irisis, it really is cool to go back where you know that your family came from. My grandmother come from Silgo so when we go there there are still cousins that knew my grandmother around. If you are interested in genealogy, Ireland is not a great place to try and find people because most of the records were burnt in the civil war. When I went there for the first time when I was six, I kept looking around for leprechauns. I even thought that I found one but it turned out only to be my uncle. Good idea, I'll get a sibling. But I still wish that I could hold the camera and take the pictures because I could take such cool pictures of myself. Ciela Rose, thank you for telling me that I can change my name. Inesdar, I will be a lady yet despite you I don'y think that my jewelry is good enough, but if quantity make up for quality, I might be able to pass Oh I guess that I should say in justice that Inesdar didn't really force me on, him simply, totally made the account for me, and then opened up the page for me and told me my name and password. |

I do agree that Ireland is not the best place at all for researching geneology. In addition to what you stated, there are so many Americans with my last name, imagine going to the place in which my last name originated, it would take a long time to trace us, even if it were all there. I do know my family crest, though, and I absolutely love it. My father did business with an Irishman once, and from what the man said (though you can't trust everything everybody says) our family name is most common in Northern Ireland. Maybe I should head up there and find out. And Lady Fiona, I am glad you got on, at any rate! I only wish there was another writer in my family so they could join. So far, I am the only one. |

Northern Ireland is a great place and I lived twp year there. But just because your name is common in Northern Ireland now doesn't mean that it was 140 years back, since a lot of protestants moved up to the North when Ireland broke from Britain because they were not liked by the new government. I have a great help that since my Irish blood has come in the past hundred year that I know the towns that they came. Having a common name must be annoying but I can't say that I know how it is because my isn't common. It didn't even make it into the top a hundred Irish names! http://www.censusfinder.com/irish_surnames.htm This has names by county and might be a help. It is really nice to have another person who you can tell all your ideas too and who can tell you, and also tell you whether they think that they are stupid or not. Who can also give you good ideas. But then there are time when we both want to talk about our stories at the same time |

Greetings Lady Fiona! Sorry for the late welcome, I don't always get a chance to read all the folders and the Intro folder got skipped a time or two. I wanted to welcome you to the forum and tell you that I love your jewelry! I think my favorite was the "Made in Land" piece. Really neat! I'm really artsy and fairly crafty, but have no talent for jewelry what so ever! I've tried beading and have tons of supplies for jewelry (I'm a sucker for bead and crafty items) but I just can't seem to make anything I would wear. LOL You should keep making jewelry. I think the only thing you're lacking is a market! When you find the right one your stock will be gone in no time! ~Raven |
