I think I read some of it when I was younger. It was very interesting. |

I have to say that I'm having a hard time reconciling Ned Land with the character played by Kirk Douglas... What do y'all think "the monster" is? |

Remember, all! No spoilers, please! I think "the monster" is. . . How many chapters are y'all into? |

Elly, can you post the questions for the first seven chapters? For those of you who do know what the monster is, please read below. Those of you who do not know what it is, don't look because it'll spoil it for you. However you'll find out what it is very soon. One interesting thing I found about the start of this book was the time period. The story begins in 1866, but according to link, basic submarines were already being used by this time. However, the people were quick to dismiss the possibility of it being a war machine in chapter 2. Why would a submarine be such a novelty and something so unknown if it had already been used? Why would even the government think it was a "monster"? Could it be the size of it, perhaps? Please, share your thoughts! The next reading will be again seven chapters. I bid you all good reading! |

Yes, I think it's interesting because submarines hadn't been invented yet. I finished chapter 10, I think. I'll have to check. |
