Post subject:  Greetings, Es

"Hello, my name is El. I am a writaholic." Her voice rang hollowly; she had obviously written out and memorized the words. The girl rocked nervously back and forth, her eyes finding the floor absolutely fascinating. "I've been writing since I was ten years old, and I just can't stop."
Time slowed, and the silence following this revelation seemed to stretch for an eternity. Squeezing her eyes shut tight, El waited for the gasps of horror, the whispered criticisms, the disgusted looks. Nothing happened.
And then, a slight sound started in the back. Clapping. The sound grew, until applause surrounded her. Slowly, El raised her eyes to look at the circle of people around her, and smiled.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. No, I'm not sorry. I love writing! I'm addicted to it! I want to do it for the rest of my life and on into eternity. I've always loved telling stories, and now I've found a format I enjoy even more. I enjoy other activities as well, such as reading, art, music, drama, hiking, photography, singing, and most other artistic/weird/nature-loving activities. I live in the woods, so I have lots of opportunities to observe nature. I'm growing an herb garden with my mom (I'm excited, I found a plant that I think might be Deadly Nightshade! I really hope it is; I've been looking for some for so long. Unfortunately, it looks like it might be dying. :( When I found it, the top stem had been broken in half, and the leaves are wilting, so it might be better if it isn't Nightshade; it'd be less disappointing). I really enjoy working with medicinal herbs, which is why most of my stories have at least one woman who is skilled at herb craft.
I've told you about my interests (in a general way). My personality is somewhat obsessive (good for details, NOT good for deadlines), especially when it comes to writing, fantasy, and folklore. My room (when it's clean) is a faery haven. I adore costumes and sewing, and I have faery wings! (Much to the embarrassment of my younger, sci-fi sister) I am a homeschooled high school senior, and I really don't feel ready for college!
Oh, I also like Ireland. I'm going there someday, to the British Isles. And I'd like to learn German, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and Welsh. However, I am currently learning French (the only language I like that is close to *shudder* Latin). I am currently writing a novel called "The Dawn of The Forest", which I'm sure you shall see at least parts of when I come crying on my knees for Help!
Sorry, as I said, I like theatre, and I can be very melodramatic.

Okay, that's the longest autobiography I've ever written. If you make it this far, Congratulations! And thank you for sticking it out with me!

Forever and Eternity,

Elestar

Welcome Elestar!

That was really good! I will be wanting to help you edit your writing if only to read it... :)

Well, you sound like someone who would be good at writing fantasy: you have the temperament of JRR Tolkien (in parts). I hope you find your feet in the forum!

With joy and peace in Christ,

Welcome Lauren! It's great to have you aboard! I'm utterly and completely addicted to writing as well. I don't know what I would do if God hadn't made me a writer. :)
Someday I hope to go to the British Isles, it's been a dream of mine for a while. I think it would be cool to learn to speak Welsh because my heritage is Welsh.
I know how you feel about not being ready for college. I graduated this past spring and the thought of college scared me.:? So, I'm taking a year off to finish the novel I'm writing. I'm planning on going to college next year.

Once agian welcome! I look forward to reading some of your story and getting to know you.

In Christ,
SG

Thank you all so much! I admit, I was a little nervous when I put my information out (I'm naturally introverted) but you've all shown me it was well worth it! I look forward to reading all your works and posts. I just...thank you. Thank you so much!

Elestar,

You are welcome! Don't be afraid to be introverted. :)

By the way, I like your signature a lot. Is it from one of your stories?

Hi Elestar,

It's great to have you! You sound like you will be a great addition to the forum. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

That was a well-written introduction, by the way... Very descriptive and emotional.

I especially like these parts: '

The use of words is unexpected (which is good!) and strongly descriptive. They create a clear and interesting picture in my mind.

:) Good job!

Thank you. No, my signature isn't from any stories. Yet. The things listed are things that speak to me, that symbolize important things for me.

Your signature is beautiful! I love how you worded that, it describes my feelings towards those things as well.

One quick note:

Sorry, I haven't looked at my language files in a while, just my novel folders, so the title of this should be "Greetings, Es", which is the real translation of "Greetings, Humans". Sorry, everyone, that I called you Reality. You are all much better than that.

Forever and Eternity,

Elestar

Your language is very interesting, Elestar. Is it based on anything? And what does "Elestar" mean?

Post subject:  Re: Greetings, Essran

Thank you. Well, it's the Common Elvish, aka Yethia Telwari, created by the Yethia Unahlemor, or Wandering Elves, which are the elvish gypsies, and is a conglomeration of the other elvish languages (which I haven't made yet). The language it is most like in reality is English, in that it is based on so many different languages and so it doesn't really have a set pronunciation system, the spelling is odd, etc. I don't really know what Elestar means, yet. I've been thinking about it, and it'll probably have something to do with twilight, the ethereal, or hope. But I'm not sure yet.

Sounds very interesting. I have never tried to work with languages...yet. The name Elestar is really neat! I always like names that mean "light" or "dawn" or something like that. Very symbolic.

Post subject:  Re: Greetings, Essran

Thank you. Yes, I do too. I have several elvish words that mean light and dawn. Twilight too. And rain. Rain is beautiful. Ettel...

Actually, the only reason I have a language is because I've been working on this one story for five years (I've had a lot of plot revisions). I only started the language two or three years ago, so it isn't complete.
