I randomly had a thought while I was getting ready for work a little bit ago wondering, "I wonder what how many introverts there are on Holy Worlds...?"

I seemed to notice a lot of artists/writers are introverts or at least partly introverted, since their hobbies are pretty much things they do on their own. Then I was wondering what everybody considered themselves on the forum here. You can be an entirely different person on the Internet these days since no one sees your face or interacts with you in real life.

I, myself, am a mix of introvert and extrovert. If I was invited to a big party, I'd be more inclined to leave early than stay late. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, but sometimes need to just hang out at home. Many people may be more inclined to say I'm more introverted than extroverted. Though I do have my extrovert times. ;) I prefer quiet than doing active things every minute of the day, every day like my younger brother.

That's pretty much it. Random curiosity, eh?

Nope, I'm not an introverted Artist. I'm a, how does my mom put it... social butterfly? Whatever she means by that! I'm a big people person. I'm not much different on the Forum than I am in real life, except I might be goofier on the Forum. I’d stay late at a party (which I never attend) rather than leave early.

I love being around my friends, and if I were to go to a party (youth group or birthday party or something. :P Not like some of the ones I know of), I'd be one to stay late. If I could get permission. :P
However, when I'm at home I tend to spend time by myself.

So, I guess it depends on who I'm around and what there is to do. I'm more of an introvert when bored.

@ Airianna and Arias: Coolio! That's actually cool to hear that you don't have to be an introvert to be an artist. (That's my brother's opinion.) Woo hoo! You show him!

@ Airianna: Hahaha! I don't go to parties either. (Unless it's a birthday party or Halloween/costume party.) I just couldn't think of a better example. XD

@ Arias: I agree with you there. It does depend on who I'm with as well. :)

Man, sometimes I wish I could spend more time by myself when I'm at home. *shrug* I guess it is nice to be needed by younger siblings. It prepares you for motherhood. *afterthought* Or fatherhood if you're a guy.

I'd rather stay late at a party too. I'm a big people person. Even if I don't interact with the people as much I want to watch. If my mom would let me I'd be the last person to leave any social gathering... :D

Being reserved is a skill I've had to learn. I'm usually very outgoing, not as witty as I'd like to be, (the internet allows me time to ponder a witty answer, which I can't do it real life and thus end up just laughing like an idiot, or being silent when I'd rather speak) and desperate to help with things, like organizing the party, cleaning up afterwards, anything that the people in charge will let me help with, which is usually nothing to my everlasting exasperation. I'm always the first to volunteer, until I wonder why and think I should be less eager to make a spectacle of myself.

Calen, tell your brother most artists are expressive, outgoing people who love life and the beauty that surrounds them. :D I wouldn't fit his description of an artist at all, and neither would the two artists I know personally.

I'm an extrovert. ;D

(on this one Myers-Briggs personality test I took online - a free one, so who knows how trustworthy it is, haha - I got ENFP...has anyone else taken one of those?)

You don't seem like an introvert on the forum Shawn. :D

Interesting... that test to which you linked, Melody, put me as an extrovert, but I think I'm an introvert. The best way I've heard the two types described as an introvert is energized by being alone, while an extrovert is energized by being with people. Of course, the type of people makes a difference. Through a self-administered diagnostic (aka the Lausers' character fractalling system...) I determined that I'm an INTP. Probably.

I'm sort of strange in that I really love being alone, but I also like being with my friends. I only have about three really close friends and I don't usually like to be in large groups of people (unless they are extremely creative or witty, like y'all here). In youth groups and stuff - believe it or not - I become a wallflower. :D

Ahh. I have no idea which one I am, I can be either way. I like "one on one" (or two!) and quiet time, but I also like a large group of like minded people.

I'm a lot like you, Evening: when I'm with one or two close friends, I can be really crazy and talk a lot, but when I'm in a group I hardly talk at all, and usually end up by myself. And I love being alone, so that I can write and read and play the piano.

I got INFP on the test, but some of the questions depend on who I'm with. I'm definitely not having an identity crisis or anything, like the test said! :)

I know! I ended up just having to pick one or the other, there wasn't a set answer for me.

Well, I’m sure not having an identity crisis. I’m not an introvert at all in any setting. I’m energized by other people. However, I love my writing time by myself, but that’s only because I love writing and it doesn’t work too well for you to do that with other people talking around you. I prefer to do my artwork among other people though.

The introvert/extrovert thing is slightly overrated, IMO. :D There some people who are definitely one or the other (my brother is an introvert. I am an extrovert.) but there are some who just can't be placed. (My sister is right inbetween, but I'd call her an introvert most days. ;D)

But it's fun to think about anyhow. :D

I'm right there with you except I don't hang out with any of my close friends except every few months at minimum. *sigh* One is in college, just two hours away thankfully. My two other close friends have both been homeschooled, one just graduated this past spring, the other is a senior. Both are doing post-secondary and have very busy part time jobs. :( Not that I have anything against jobs! XD

Tests are only so accurate. None of us can be put into a box and stereotyped. We're too unique.

That's pretty much the same way it is with me and my best friends. Well, two are sisters who live off in the middle of nowhere two hours away and the other is my sister. Ok, I see my sister every day... :D

Yes, the personality types and stuff work well for characters, but not always for humans. Oh, once I took my MC, Tamera's, personality type and it was the same as my nine year-old sister. Now she thinks she is Tamera. I keep trying to tell her that Tamera is very different in personality from her and that she's almost ten years older! Oh well... *sigh*

Um... am I the only introvert on here? I wouldn't be surprised, but still...

I'm ENTP, according to that test. However, there aren't enough questions in my opinion for it to be completely accurate. Either that or they need to be more specific with the situation you are in. I think the second letter depends more on the artisticness of the person, not the first letter. Thanks for the link, Melody! :D

I am very much introvert. Anytime I can, I'll get away by myself--go lay on my bed and draw/read/knit/crochet/think, or go outside and stare blankly at some random point, thinking. (The latter creeps out parents...) I dislike two on one conversation, and even one-on-one is hard. (outside of my family, of course.) In any sort of party, I'd be the first to leave, if I even come (not like I've been to any parties...).

Oh, and I'm totally different on the internet (aren't most people?). I can chatter, monologue, and otherwise say about four times as many things as I do in real life. ;)

Us extroverts are being overtaken by the introverts! Man, you guys all have me fooled with your online facade. I wouldn't have guessed most of you as being introverts. What you see is what you get from me guys. Oh yeah, and Calen, you can tell your brother I do actually know an introverted artist. I thought about it some and realized my friend's husband Matt (who is a professional artist) is an introvert. Unless you get to know him, then he comes out of his shell.

I think quite a few introverts are that way, Airianna. Once someone becomes comfortable around someone else they really start to open up and show off their goofy side. I tend to be that way. I'm better with small groups than big groups when it comes to really getting crazy. (Unless I'm at camp as a staff member then I have to force myself to be crazy in front of a couple hundred 8-10 year olds.) ;P

Us Extroverts will stand together!! :D

I wonder if the genre has anything to do about it. Will there be more extroverts on the sci-fi forum? :D

Wow...this is totally me, especially the parties (my friends are always getting on me to do stuff with them) minus the knitting, which my mind would not handle. Or the crocheting for that matter. And I don't do that much thinking these days, either. ;)

I'm both. Isn't that weird?

I don't mind being alone. I just love crocheting and listening to music, or going off to my room with a good book, but if you put me in a large group, I LOVE talking to everyone, and being silly, and laughing, and eating, and making new friends.
although....most of my friends are slightly introverted, so since opposites attract, I must be extroverted.:D

LOL! I don't know. Maybe we shouldn't put labels on people.XD
(Why couldn't you crochet or knit, eruheran? It isn't that hard, I promise!)

Not to mention we all seem to be pretty extroverted on here.:D I haven't seen anyone who posts a constant stream of monosyllabic, mild-mannered posts.:D

Everyone seems to be having the time of their lives!

I'm a textbook introvert. My best friend says that I'm a politician on the outside and Anne of Green Gables on the inside :D. Amazingly, that's pretty accurate.

Maybe somebody already mentioned it, but you can't really be both. There are degrees to both, which is what creates the confusion.

According to Myers-Briggs, I'm an INTJ, and moderately introverted. My friends do not tolerate this excuse very well.

I took a personality quiz from a book called "Please Understand Me" and in the end my results were rather...weird. I had part introvert, part extrovert, and part something unknown. 0.o I think I should go back and take it again. It's been a couple years now.

Calenmiriel, here's the test you took: http://www.keirsey.com/sorter/instruments2.aspx?partid=0

What confused you is that it would take the number of times you answered extroverted vs. the number of times introverted and see which is higher.

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

That is another good accurate test. Both Dr. Jung and Dr. Keirsey were experts and their tests are probably the best.

Finally, this site is very helpful understanding what your results mean: http://typelogic.com/

I am Extroverted, though sometimes I can be a little wall flower... Especially at Sunday School and all the other college students talk to each other.

Being an introvert is what made me a writer! Although, for all my artistic talents I tend to be a very logical person so I don't even know how it works. I blame my best friend. I was a logical introvert until I met him and now I'm some hyper artistic person. But I'm still mostly a logical introvert. ;)

I'm probably exactly 50/50, both introvert and extrovert. Although part of the introvertness could be just sheer laziness. Generally, I never want to leave the house. I like being home, and doing all the fun stuff I do, by myself or with my family. However I also love going to church, or family get-togethers, etc. Parties are great fun; and if we have people over, I'm the same as you Indy: I love to stay up late and I get super hyper.

Naturally I'm shy. I'd like nothing better to talk to nobody and sit in the corner with a book, and let everyone else do the talkin'. However, I make myself talk to people, and generally by the time I've said, "Hi! How are you?" I'm over it, and ready to be chatty. Put it this way; no one would know that I'm shy at all, but inside I am. :D

So I'm a introextrovert. :D

I'm with Busheh! Except the fact that nobody would know I am shy... I am actually very quiet in real-life and extremely hesitant to share my opinion. So I actually think I'm introvert more than an extrovert...but I have some extrovert qualities. *cough* Which are very prominent on HW.

Agreed. So I may be half and half as well. But I love to talk to people. Sometimes I just ignore them also.

According to the personality test, I'm an ESJF. :D So I'd stay late at the party. . . if it was my best friend's party. If my friend had dragged me there, I would leave early. Anyway, I think I'm 50/50 too, half of the time I like quiet activities and half of the time I like music and parties and such.

That being said. I love introverts. I find them a lot of fun.

I'm an introvert introvert INTROVERT!!!! But sometimes I act like an extrovert. {surprise, surprise?} But I really get my strength from time alone, and being with people is exhausting, so I think I definitely qualify in introvert camp ;) . I'm a confirmed INFJ. Your quintessential "introverted artistic personality type" :D .

Woooow, you guys! Way to revive an old thread! I just took the Jung "humanmetrics" test and got ISFJ. "Moderately expressed introvert." Uh, okaaay? :?

@Estar: Where did you take your test?
