Okay, I decided to get daring, to go ahed and write this post.

Evry one has an ax-sent, right? Well, I thot it might be fun to display it on the forum. The rules arr simple. Just write down whut you wanta say, but spell it exak-ly as you speak it (and be appalled at my Texas drawl).

By thuh way, thuh small "t" indicates that I barely say that sound. Hardly ad all, and it sounds almost like a "d".

Does innybuddy wanta try it?

(P.S. This might be helpful experience if you wanta write down an accent in yer book.)

I'm not very good at this kind of thing. I have a character who has a dialect in my books and it is hard to write his dialect while still letting the reader understand what he is trying to say. I'm not sure if I will try.

Well this sounds like good craic mates, not exactly sure how you get an Irish accent in this as the spelling is the same, it's just the pronunciation of the vowels. Just imagine I'm speaking in a Northern Irish accent.

An Aerish accint? Aye, that's aesy, sonny! O' coorse I've raed maeny books ware the Aerish accint is written as it soonds, so it maey be aesier for mae. ;)

Really, though, I don't consider myself to have an accent. (Other people think otherwise, but we say letters how they're supposed to be said. ;) ) Pure opinion, however.

I'm not sher how I'm supposed to portray my Northern ax-cent very well. I feel I enunciate well-ish. And no, I don't draw out my "o"'s like a Canadian. ;) *has nothing against Canadians*

I think that this thread is incredibly intresting though. Way to be creative, Aemi. :D

I agree with Amanda! Any misspells are intentional.

Okay, nerdness moment. Ahem.

I've been told by people all the time that "I don't have an accent". Yes, technically I do, but I don't normally sound like people expect me to sound from living in the South. Sometimes, though, I'll git mah drawl goin', an' it drives mah Momm-up thuh wall, especially if we'll stop by our rel'tives in South Caralina. Then we reaally git goin'.

And no, that doesn't really convey it right... I can get a really thick accent. *hopes she won't talk like this all day*

I'm pretty much the same. :D Some words I say may sound accent-y, I suppose. Like "again". I used to say it like it's spelled, but kept being teased by my friends and family because it sounded Southern. (No offense to those from the South, I was born there.) Now I say it "uh-gen." :P

Well, I'm afraid that, since I have a midwest/northwest accent, I can't really write my accent either, since it follows the written English rules, accept that I add a couple lexical features...such as "ain't" and "ya'll".

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

Hrm... I doubt I've got an accent... Being the Northerner I am and all... Besides, I have too much fun faking accents to really have one

I bet I could pick up an accent after staying in one location for a week though ;)

*chuckles* Actually, my "real" accent is more a 'pure' English since I've lived all over the place :P But I do have an authentic Southern accent which sort of slips out when I'm back in Georgia talking to someone else who has an accent :P

Buht wah'll juhst fuhget thaht part uv it and keep havin' fuhn. :)

*nods * In all honesty, I grew up in California. California is one of the states that is English Capital. While we do have an accent, because obviously Aussie would think I talk funny ;), we are considered accentless. In fact, English teachers from California, and some other state I can't remember, are supposedly preferred over others for colleges. *shrugs * So I'm just boring, I guess. Now, I have fooled lots of people by faking an accent, but I don't really have one. Other than I like to do the occasional ya'll, just cause my Grandmother has a heavy southern accent. She calls me hown (instead of hun), says rasslin (wrestling), warsh (wash) egg contartents (egg carton) flustraited (frustrated), and so on. :D

Wow, I thought that word was only a myth. I did not not think anyone actually said it, meaning that.

*chuckles * Oh believe me, among my southern belle great aunts and Grandmother (who all grew up on a cotton "plantation"), it is a very real word. But you have to have deep, southern roots to still use it. I didn't grow up in the south, so the references and accent never stuck. Plus, my Daddy did everything possible as a teen to drop the "John Boy" accent, and my mom grew up in the OC and Laguna Beach. So in the month that Grandma came to stay with us every year, wherever we happened to be (can you guys imagine what the Japanese thought of her when she came to stay with us that year?), I just saw it as Grandma talk. :D Now I know better.

Growing up I realized: "Wait a second...All old people don't talk like that?"
