Post subject:  Selling ebooks outside of Kindle
Outside of Smashwords and Amazon's Kindle store, does any one know of any services for distributing ebooks? I'm specifically thinking of PDFs. I know there have to be ways to do it, as lots of people sell things (patterns, books, sheet music, etc.) via PDF still. :D

If I were to try and sell a PDF from my own website, would anyone have any recommendations in that department? Do you remember the last time you bought a PDF and how it came?

I would assume that if you were going to sell PDFs from your own website you would want to set up some sort of ecommerce system like OpenCart to sell the items. Outside of Smashwords and Amazon...I do know that it is possible to list your writing on BarnesandNoble.com (similar to Amazon, I believe), for a price, but I don't know the exact details of the deal. A disadvantage of B&N is that, like Amazon, ebooks sold there only function on their proprietary device because they're DRM protected.
