Hello! I'm Zoa-lii, but if you want, you can just call me Zoe. It doesn't matter which one you prefer use.

I'm a wannabe author and have been one for as long as I can recall. I'm also a bit of an artist, just with pencils though, I haven't tried anything else. Some of my favorite past-times are reading, listening to music, and watching cartoons. I also like to clean. Really, I do. Don't faint, please.

I joined this site mainly because it seems to be full of people who love to write and also love to help other writers. Maybe now with someway to discuss my story ideas, I'll have the drive to actually finish something.

Welcome to HW, Zoa! *shoots off some glitter spreading fireworks* :D Haha! I don't think you're crazy for liking to clean - 'cause I enjoy cleaning too. It drives my sister (Melody Kondrael) up a wall, though, because she just doesn't get why I want her half of the room as tidy as mine. XD

*is shot into the thread via cannon, splatters against the wall, liquefies, and re-constitutes* Whew! Hi Zoa-lii! Don't worry, you won't have to clean me up! But between you and me, don't try to clean the Mod Lair, they'll get you for that.

Oh! New people! Yay! Welcome, Lady with the pretty name! It is a delight to have you here! Do take a cupcake.

"Just pencils"? You say that like it's inferior! My concept artist/illustrator mostly uses pencils, and her art is amazing. Can we pretty please see some of your drawings? :D

Well, hi everyone. Goodness, there are a lot of you saying hello. This is quite the friendly forum. I love it already. :)
I'm going to try to say hello to all of you in this post, so here it goes!

@Elly of Zoriah: Hi, Elly. Thanks for the welcome!

Ok, I think I got everyone. :) So, now that I've introduced myself and met all of you, what is usually the next step new members do on this forum? I can tell you right now that I am a bit lost.

No worries, Zoa-lii! I was just like that when I first joined about a month ago. If you are working on writing anything, you may want to begin by introducing your characters and begin developing them more. You can do that by creating your own thread here, or you can just introduce them on one of these two threads: Character Introductions, Two Worlds and Five New Characters. Don't feel obligated to read through all of the posts here. ;)

Also, I would suggest getting involved in any topics that interest you or would help you develop a story you may be writing now. There is a plethora of options to choose from. Please don't get overwhelmed! :D

Finally, if you're writing a story and want a critique, or if you want to share any other forms of writing that you've done, you can post them here.

Don't be afraid to PM me or anyone else here for help. ;) I'm still getting a firm grasp on everything here myself, and everyone has been very helpful.

Once again, welcome to Holy Worlds, and I hope you enjoy your stay. :D

Well first of all; do what Miss Nemo said. :dieshappy:
Secondly; if you are having technical issues PM Sir Emethemus (Aka: the dark evil lord of holy worlds) or post it on this forum.
Thirdly; If you need any help just ask me.
Fourthly and most importently; go here!

Later on when you fully have your story developed; making a sub forum in here, is the best thing to do!

Also, try making eccence maps! And most of all....

HAVE FUN!

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Zoa! I also love your username. It flows very well together. (Of course, I admit being just a titch partial to names that start with "z".) ;) Hee, hee. :3

Aren't we all wannabe writers? :D

Art is a field full of exploration. Never feel afraid to try new things. ;)

There is no doubt that you will find many people here who share the same goal of starting and finishing a story. Encouragement is never short on Holy Worlds. ^^

Thanks so much for the help! If I need any more, I'll be sure to ask.

@Svensteel: Ok, you made me laugh so hard. At first I thought you actually thought it was my birthday. I was about to go check if I had put the wrong date in there. That was a really good rhyme too. And thanks.

@Captain Nemo: Thanks! That whole post was really helpful. I'll try to get started soon then. :)

@Calenmiriel: Hi! I'm quite partial to names that start with "z" as well. A lot of names I come up with seem to start with that letter.

@Zoa: Pleased to make your acquaintance. ^^ I think "z" names are neat because they aren't very common. At least, not around the States.

@Namor (who is now Svensteel?): Ooo, coolio! I didn't make my username up though. It's a close Elvish translation to my real name. ^^ (Like Lady Eruwaedhiel's name.)

Hi, Willow. :) Delighted to meet you too.
Exactly what do you mean by subject matter? Does that mean what things I like to draw the most? Sorry, I don't know all the proper references. I usually just draw stuff from my imagination, but it's mostly fantasy characters with swords and interesting costumes.

Yeah, maybe that's why I like them so much too. I once had an elf county called Zhreyän-in, and the main character was named Zylhámar. Um, I really like accent marks as well.
How'd you figure out your elvish name? I went to a site that translated my name as Luthien. But she's the elf who fell in love with a mortal man, if I remember correctly.

Hey, I used the quote button, and I even figured out how to quote more than one person at a time! Thanks, Svensteel. :dieshappy:

Subject matter is basically just what do you like to draw. :D So, yeah, you answered the question just perfectly. lol! It sounds so neat! I really wish I could draw swords, but I can never get the lines straight enough!

Typically people put their previous username in their signature. Example: Previously Namor Svensteel.

@Zoa: Wow! Those are some fun "z" names! :D I think the accents are cool, but I don't know how to use them correctly. :P

I got a list of Elvish girl and boy names from Melody Kondrael and found mine on there. (Melody and I grew up together in real life.) Yup, Luthien fell in love with the human named Beren. ^^

Swords are hard for me too, that's why I draw them a lot. When I'm drawing swords I use this little four inch ruler I have to help me with the shorter straight lines. It's easy to use, and it even has a small magnifying glass built on it to help with those teeny tiny details. :D

Well, I've made up how they're used. The "ä" is a mixture of the short "a" sound and the short "o" sound. It's a bit hard to explain without hearing it. The mark above the "á" in my elvish language just signifies the long vowel sound.

Do you still have that Elvish name list?

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Well, I would really love to show them, but I don't have a scanner, so if I do put them up, they will have to be pictures taken with my camera. They would be bad quality.

Ah! The penguins! *six shimmery penguins slide in on their glittery bellies in a star formation, a punch bowl in the center* Punch is my specialty, but I can get something different if you like. ;) *the penguins get the bowl on the table* Something is missing... :? *notices the lack of glitter* Oh, that's right. Who has the glitter fireworks? *taps foot and looks at the E brothers*

More and more heaping piles of greetings to you, Zoa! {I totally echo all those praises of your fabulous name!! It's glorious! Splendid! Mystical! Mysterious! Wondrous! And much, much more ... :rofl: }

Anyway, seems like there's been a lot of expression on here, so let me just add to the walrus smell and glitter-penguin feathers and cupcake crumbs! *dumps more glitter on everything, adds an extra serving for Zoa to clean up if she'd like, then enchants the glitter so it'll vanish anyway if she doesn't feel like cleaning. But let me just say virtual cleaning is really a snap! Try out the ole Marry Poppins moves, and they'll work, too!!*

*Wanders around the house looking for edible foodstuffs, then serves big batch of raspberry crumble, apple pie, cookies, and of course hot chocolate*

By the by, I'm Dawn, or Even/Estar/Evenstar, if you'd prefer. *curtseys with cracking knees and can't keep smile straight!*

Well, all right, since you asked so nicely. :-) But I'm going to try to take some really good pictures of them first, so it may be a while.

Hi, thanks for the welcome, and for more virtual stuff for this welcome party type thing.

Goodness, this post is long. I need to get on here more often and answer these things. lol

Yes, I don't do well under pressure!! lol Just kidding. I just have to figure out which ones to post, and how to get them up here. I think I have to post them in the gallery first. I'm not sure yet. :)

Yes, now that we have the pretty gallery up, you should upload your photos to there first. Then you can imbed them in a forum post. :D

I'm sorry, Philly. But I am having a hard time getting them up. It said the maximum file size was 2 MB, and two of the pictures I wanted to upload were 2.01 MB or 2.16 MB. So they wouldn't work. And the one that wasn't too large had a fatal error message pop up. :( Technology and I don't seem to mix.

*pops in and pretends to be the local computer expert* XD Zoa, you should try using Picnik to scale your photos/scans down a little. You shouldn't have to scale them much to make them small enough to be uploadable. :) *stops pretending to be the local computer expert* And for the error messages - PM my brother, Dieki Kondrael. He's the Ringsmith, Redecorator, and bug-fixer. (and the Art Gallery was one of his many HW projects.) He should be able to diagnose and fix whatever problems you were having w/the Art Gallery. :D

Thanks, Amanda! That site helped. But that one picture still isn't uploading. I don't know what it is about that picture, but I guess I just have to keep fiddling with it.

P.S. I just got two pictures posted. :)

I could only find the one, but wow. The detail! That's what I love about artists and their pencils... they can get such a soft touch with so much detail! Thank you for going through all the trouble to post it! :dieshappy: *gives Zoe more cupcakes*
