I'm trying to start a blog, and I have no idea what I'm doing. So I was wondering if any of you more experienced bloggers have any tips.

That's cool that you're starting a blog! I'm not the most experienced blogger out there, but I'll help you if I can. What are you struggling with? Is there anything in particular you are needing help with?

What blog website are you using? I use WordPress and it's slightly too complex for my small technologically stone aged intellect. From what I gather, Blogspot is really simple and easy to use as well as it has a lot of formats.

Of course, with WordPress you can easily create a more website lookin' thing that doesn't look just like a blog. You might be able to do that with Blogspot (or some people use Blogger), but I wouldn't know seeing as I have never used either.

But, yeah, like Busheh said; is there anything particular you are having struggles with? :)

Actually, Bethy, blogspot and Blogger are the same thing. Confusing, right?

Well, anyway, I've blogged WordPress and Blogger both, and they both take some adjustment to set up. If you're thinking you want something versatile, very "you," then you might want to go with Blogger - I think it's somewhat simpler, allowing for more customization. Plus, Google {its, um, parent company?} is on the cutting edge of the technological knife, so you can be sure to stay ahead. Still, WordPress is clean and professional. It often gives a more streamlined - less personalized - look.

So, my suggestion would be to pin down your blog's "main idea" {what you want to blog about}, and how much you want to personalize it. Also have an idea of your desired audience. Then, we can work from there!

P.S. If you want to have a look at a Blogger blog, mine's linked in my signature just below ;)

If you want simplicity of use, go with tumblr rather than wordpress or blogger. Both of those are pretty complex for blogging newbies. Tumblr also allows you to customize about as much as blogger (and if they shut down blogger customizing, more).

Other than your platform (wordpress vs. blogger vs. tumblr), your scope (what the topics of your posts will include), audience (who you are talking to and whom you want to read the blog), schedule (when and how often you will post), and style (the way you write, how long your posts will be, etc.) are very important as well.

As Jay said, tumblr is veryy simple. If/when I get a blog, I'm going to probably go with Wordpress.
