Post subject:  Glad to be in like company

Good day,
My name is Ian Curtis, and I am a newly published author. My book "The Canticles of Andurun: Dragonsong" is book one in a seven book series that all takes place in a mythical realm named Andurun. I am currently working on book 5, which is entitled "Aria of the Dawn."
I have been a writer for about 25 years, and have quite a bizarre medley of works under my belt (though nothing previously published). I love fantasy: good verses evil, bizarre monsters, exotic locations, impossible quests; the classics are the best, in my opinion.
I have also been a Christian since I was a boy; I have only become an actually effectual Christian in my late twenties. It's a sad, too-commonplace story... Now I want to use my gift to glorify the Lord, and to share a well told tale with the world. It seems I am in good company.
I look forward to being here for awhile, and if anyone wants to visit my other haunts you can find me at: http://thecanticlesofandurun.blogspot.com/(my fantasy site) or http://malachi3verse6.blogspot.com/ (my theology site).

In like company indeed! We are delighted to have you here, sir. I looked up your book on Amazon, and I am thoroughly intrigued. The premise of dragons ruling humans, and the concept of branding, is a very effective hook. I will have to see if I can obtain a copy sometime.

Please, have a cupcake, and browse around the forums! We would love to hear more about your writing ventures, and we'd be honored if you'd share some of your publishing experience with us. We just launched a new subforum, dedicated to topics about publishing and promotion:

Welcome, Sir! It's great to have you here. :D *brings in the glittery penguins and a punch bowl* Do you like punch? *looks around* I see a great lack of glitter... *brings in several sacks, rips them open, and brings in a fan* Much better. ;)

*pokes Lizzie * Look, Love, I have a book named after me. ;)

Welcome Sir Ian Thomas Curtis! That is such a regal sounding name. I love the story premise of Dragons lording over Humans. It is a theme not heavily used (thanks, Philli, for the link). I too shall try and obtain a copy. I'm a big dragon fan, so it will be high on my To Read list.

Again, welcome.

Wow...I am humbled by the warm reception! I will surely be coming back as time permits to share, and I am very happy to hear that everyone likes the premise of my stories. I am glad to have found a fantasy writing location that glorifies the Lord, and I certainly plan to remain awhile, so long as you can put up with me, that is... God bless!

Actually, the fact that you believe you're someone that needs to be "put up with" just proves, in my mind, that you will be perfect for the community, Sir Ian. :D

(I hope that made some convoluted sense...)

Welcome, Sir I! :) I beseech you to ignore the resident eccentric (Inesdar), the resident dragon-geek (Airianna), and the resident chatterbox (Philli) and partake in some most excellent pizza with me. Oh! And you're published? *adds all books to wishlist* I'm going to have to read those when I can get money to buy them :)

Anyways, welcome!

Post subject:  Re: Glad to be in like company

I must say again that I am glad to be here. You know the difference between talking to someone about a topic and talking with someone? I share my faith with any; sometimes I'm talking to them (they're listening...at least I hope) and sometimes with them (they're contributing; this is usually with another believer).
With fantasy fiction it is similar. I can share my thoughts, ideas, etc with others, and they may express interest or raise questions, but it is another beast entirely when someone else enjoys delving into the void and raising up a world that previously only existed in your dreams. NOW I'm talking with someone! Anyone else ever think like this? It isn't an offense to anyone; if someone was talking trig, it would be TO me and not with me... I'm not extremely fond of math...

I see what you're saying Sir Ian, and I think you will find place (and conversation partners) for both here.

The resident chatterbox! I'd pretend to take offense at that, Huey, if I weren't having you design a blog template that has a button that says, quite literally, "Follow me on Twitter... where I talk an awful lot." La di da...

Do not!

(I honestly hadn't given the frequency of its appearances any thought so I'll just comically deny your accusations in an immaturely girlish way.)
