Episode 6 is up, Publishing Methods with James Somers. This is the second part of our interview with James. He's got some great insight into self publishing and shares how the growth in ebooks is boosting his sales.

I'm curious how people are listening to these podcasts. Do you go the Posterous site and download, listen to it there, or are you subscribed on iTunes?

I download the podcasts on Posterous so I can listen to them whenever I have the time.

I listen to them on Posterus... at least I try to. I had a great big HW podcast marathon and got done with five. Now it looks like I'm going to have to do that again.

Sorry, I'm a little behind I guess.

I just updated the list though to include our newest episode, HWP #7: Diane Graham, member of The New Author's Fellowship, who discusses writing her fantasy novel in 1st Person Present Tense, along with some other great advice!

Episode 8: Grace Bridges, CEO of Splashdown Books is up. She gives a rundown of all her authors and their books, which are a really neat variety of fantasy and science fiction.

Also, and help me spread the word, I am doing an ebook giveaway for five people who comment on the podcast link. Each winner will get their choice of a Splashdown book. If you don't have an ereader, don't fret, you can read them on your computer as a pdf or download the free kindle on PC program and read it there. I'd recommend that, as the eink is easier to read, and it saves your progress.

I'm kind of going out on a limb here and offering five books, but with her being CEO and our first Splashdown interview, I wanted to start the Splashdown relationship with a bang. This means we need people to comment and participate. On my last book giveaway, I had one person comment. If you don't have an ereader, you could also win it for a friend or parent who has a smart phone (or ereader).

Episode 9: Keven Newsome, author of Winter and founder of New Authors Fellowship is up! Great discussion about using a goth prophetess as his main character and other writing tips. This is a great book folks, and as such I'm offering two ebook copies of Winter to those who comment on the podcast page before the next episode is up. Again, sorry that I'm not offering print books, but those are too expensive for me right now.

We had 5 winners for the last episode's giveaway: Airianna, Jonathan Garner, Stephanie Hodgson (no link so not sure how to contact her...I think she's in Holy Worlds, right?), Svensteel, and Caleb Joyce.

I think I want to go the Fantasy Route. I'm torn between the Duke's Handmaid and Reality Dawns. Have you read either one, Tim?

Author:  Timotheus [ July 3rd, 2011, 2:46 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Holy Worlds Podcast Episodes

I haven't read either, but there are samples linked on the website. I can't remember about Reality Dawn, but The Duke's Handmaid sounded like girls would like it more so than guys. I plan to read both. The Duke's Handmaid also sounded "harsh" as in some bad things happen to the heroine, so I wouldn't say it's girly, only that it is a female perspective pov, which you might like.

Author:  Lady Elanor [ July 3rd, 2011, 3:06 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Holy Worlds Podcast Episodes

Wow; thank you, Tim! How nice! I think I'll go for The Duke's Handmaid by Caprice Hokstad, please; if that's ok? Thanks again! :dieshappy:

Post subject:  Re: Holy Worlds Podcast Episodes

:P So I didn't get to listen to the podcast when I wanted, because my family and I were driving back home from New Jersey. For some reason my parents didn't want to listen to the podcast and the crying baby. *shrugs *

Just finished it though, Tim. Awesome! Love it. Your blooper bit at the end was hilarious, by the way. I think you are probably the only person who took your statement that way, but once you played the clip and inserted your comments, I was in stitches. :)

(now everyone's gonna want to go listen, just to see what I'm talking about)

The interview was great. Keep 'em comin. :D

By the way, I love being able to leave comments now. I always wanted to say stuff about the episodes. Now I can. (You may regret that. I can be long winded over there, too. ;) )

Thanks Air!

Your comment was great, though his name is Keven with an "e", just for future reference. I think you'll love Winter, and so far you are the only entry for the free ebook, so thanks for commenting.

I have another blooper I saved from a previous episode that sounds like Jay after he took a very refreshing drink of pop. It was out of nowhere, and I'll have to put it in the show sometime.

When I edit, I find about one dumb question (at least) and this could be my way of laughing at myself as well as to entice people to listen to the very end. I'm glad you thought it was funny. I still die laughing.

***NEWS***

I want to take the next ten days off and need your help. I need you guys to put together a show and publish it without me. My family is here (mom and bro) and I spent too much time last Friday trying to record, edit and publish (literally 8 hours) that I don't want to do again in two weeks. We're trying to publish an episode every two weeks, so unless we are a week late, I'm going to leave it up to you all to put out an episode.

Let me know if you have any ideas. There are plenty of interesting people to interview and or create a topical discussion for an episode on Holy Worlds. Send me your thoughts and willingness to participate. I can help answer any questions you have about technical stuff like what program to use and how to audio edit and upload to the podcast.

Post subject:  Re: Holy Worlds Podcast Episodes

*smacks self * Keven, not Kevin. And people think I spell my name weird. ;)

*chuckles * I think we all ask dumb questions from time to time. :P I found it hilarious though, once you put in your comments. I really didn't see it the way you described it, until you described it that way. Then I died laughing. Well- almost died. ;)

Ummm... what would be involved? I'm not sure I have the equipment or the techno savvy, but I have a motor mouth. ;) Could I be of assistance?

Jay and I talked and he can't help audio edit, so unless someone else can, we'll just wait until I'm ready. Having the technology is important, though a decent mic can be found for less than $20 if you want to get involved sometime. As far as the techno savvy, installing skype and plugging in your mic is all a guest would need to know how to do. There are ways to test how you sound, and for me to cut out noise. We would love for you to consider this at some point so we can interview you about your book being published, so don't take too long ;)

Also, I'm glad you found it funny. I laughed pretty hard myself.
