My family recently received these emails from a trusted writer. My parents have decided to act on it. After all, it can't hurt. I felt compelled to share them. If anything, they contain interesting information. Could make a good novel plot! :D

I didn't have time to read them yesterday; and I won't have time today, I know. This might have to wait until the weekend.... :P

I read the first one, or something like it, a while back.

Food shortage, that's entirely possible with all the rain we've been getting here in the Midwest and whatever happened down in South America. *glances out window* It's rained almost two weeks in a row by now.

I thought it was information worth sharing. (It's been raining heaps here too)

Interesting articles; thanks for sharing. :D

I don't have any definite opinion on it... I figure that, whatever happens, it's all in God's hands. :D But I know people on both sides of the argument. My grandma is leaning toward the panic side of things; she's convinced that the world is going to end within the next few years. But most everyone I know tends to laugh it off.

Anyway... there's nothing wrong with storing up food; you'll end up eating it no matter what happens! :D But I'm not so sure about the gold thing. By deciding that paper money is practically worthless, and trading it in for gold, aren't you helping the very thing you hope to prevent along? It's not a big deal when one person does it, but if everyone did it, paper money really would be worthless. And there is a reason no one uses the Gold Standard anymore... there isn't enough gold to go around. :P

But that's just my .02. I'm definitely not an expert or anything! ;) This is just what I've picked up from conversations between my dad and grandpa. :D

Good points, Princess! Thankyou for commenting. :D

I don't believe the guy that writes from the point of view that the world is ending, (because no one knows when that is!) but the view that it's another great depression.

I'm not sure people buying gold would decrease the value of cash money. We looked into that a bit, and apparently a lot of people buy gold bullion. I also wondered what the point of buying gold would be if things are going to get so bad no one could afford to buy it anyway. At the lowest point in things, gold won't be worth any more then money, however my parents explained that once the worst is past, gold will retain its value and be worth something on the other side, because there isn't any more gold being made.

I'm definitely not an expert either! :D But it's intriguing to read about. And you're right; a full pantry never goes astray! :D

Oops... I didn't mean to make it sound like he thought the world was going to end. That's just my grandma's reason for stockpiling. :P

But you said makes sense, too! *shakes head* All this complicated economics stuff makes my head hurt... ;)

Ahh, I understand. :D

You're right, economics, :P. Thank goodness we can leave most of the confusing stuff to our parents! :D

Very thought-provoking, and good to think/debate about, certainly. But not a sufficient cause for panic, let's hope!

Anyway, since I'm not in the States, it doesn't quite affect me too much - but then again, the global market is extremely connected these days, so what affects one really does affect all. And I know my parents have been investing in gold.

So the point of that rambling post? Um... adding my opinion, I suppose!

Not a cause for panic, definitely. But definitely a cause to consider, I reckon. :D

You're not from America? Where are you from, evenstar? I'm not from America either, I'm Australian. (Although you probably already know that)

Busheh ~ I'm not "from" America. But sadly it's what my passport says, and so far I haven't been able to instruct it otherwise. I've been looking up rainbow-colored dyes to better represent my country of origin

Oh really? You're from Australia?? Warning: fake reaction, I already totally knew that :D
