Have you noticed that almost everyone here has an interest in horses?! Is it just something with writers?

I actually got interested in horses before I started writing fantasy, but yes, they are quite fun to ride. I've never had a chance to care for one other than getting it ready to ride, but I still like them quite a bit.

I started loving horses before I could even write my name. I was taking riding lessons at about five years old...

I have always loved horses and wanted to have one. I really want to ride again, too.

I love horses, though I only get to ride about once every three months. :( My dream is to someday own a good-natured grulla Arabian/Morgan mare. Either that, or an Adallaon. I think I'm more likely to get the former. :D

That's funny! I didn't realize so many people on here liked horses. Maybe it is just a writer thing. :D I've loved horses ever since I can remember and hope to someday own one. Until then I'm glad for any chance I can get to be around them and ride them.

I think it might have something to do with writing fantasy... fantasy stories always seem to have at least one horse in them!
I've always wanted a horse, and I figured writing about them was the next best thing! :D

I've loved horses ever since I can remember, and I've been taking riding lessons for about two years now. Will have been three in June. We don't ride during the winter, since my instructor is always really busy then, but he takes us (me and my friend his granddaughter Rachel) to horse shows in the summer. I ride English, Western, and I love galloping bareback. Here's the mare I ride: http://www.horsechannel.com/blog/viewbio.aspx?apid=112038 I registered almost all the horses at the barn on that site. I have a lot of fun with them . . . :D
I actually named one of my characters after her . . . an elf called Fairfax. In a totally unrelated detour, ;) his twin brother's name is Faulkner.

Bareback is best, I like it better than any other way!

I've never ridden bareback. My friend tried it once, but her horse's backbone was too uncomfortable. He (her horse) isn't quite as fat -for lack of better words- as he should be.
