Hey everyone! Unfortunately, I'm only going to be able to get on in the evenings on Monday-Thursday, and only for a few minutes. |

Well! You could have told us that a lot sooner! *huff* I was starting to think I was going to get lonely around here. Your posts are fascinating, Neil. |

Nice to know I'm appreciated! Yeah, I'm participating in a mock-legislative meeting. (For you foreign types, the legislature is the body which governs my state. If the law passes, it goes to the governor.) It's been incredibly fun. I'm on the Health and Welfare committee. Today we sent a law banning text messaging to the House of Reps. and we voted down a bill to...uh, outlaw screamo-music in public. (I'm not even sure "screamo" is a real word!) We also elected our nominations for governor and representative. (We're all reps. but we have elections anyways.) Yeah. We didn't like that bill. Tomorrow I get to tour the newly remodeled state capital, meet with the Chief Justice of the state Supreme Court, continue determine which bills will reach the floor, choose what candidates I'm going to support, and generally have fun meeting people from the far parts of the state! (I feel like a five year old telling his parents about his day over the dinner table.) |

My bill passed committee almost unanimously! (Only one person voted against the bill. Our candidate for governor was kind enough to thank this person for their courage to vote the way they thought they should regardless of how everyone else voted.) We were going to do my bill in floor debate, but didn't have time. That's good, 'cause it gives me a chance to prepare to address some of the questions that came up in committee and will probably come up again. |

My bill based the floor debate, and was not vetoed by our elected governor, who, I might add, was my pick and did a wonderful job. One of my best friends and another friend who has my highest respect won the other two offices and did a marvelous job acting as leaders during the voting. I'm free! It ended today! |

Some of the people there could really benefit from Bible study done there. (Actually, everyone could, but some more than others.) I did have fun. Of course, my bill didn't pass because of my eloquence or anything, it's just that most of the people there have been raised to be very conservative. BTW, my bill was a bill affirming my state's right to secede, stating the circumstances in which it would automatically secede, and detailing the process of secession. |
