Everyone, I almost died yesterday. No this is not an april fools joke.

I was driving my little Ford Ranger to see my girlfriend because I was off from work Thursday, I've needed new tires for a while now and when I hit a wet spot in the road I started to skid, tried to compensate for it, overcompensated and began to skid the other way, left the road, did a two hundred foot powerslide across a field then went nose first off a seven foot bank, rolled completely over then did an uncontrolled U-turn and slammed into the same bank I flipped off of.

And yet, totally unharmed. A bruise on my left arm from slamming into the side and some slight abrasions on my face from my rough sweater sleeve when I threw my arms up to protect my head when I flipped.

Now get this, My truck started, backed out of the bank and I drove it home.

But now having stared death in the face, felt the terror involved with knowing that you're about to die. I now have a unique perspective to pass on to my characters.

God is great, God is good, God watches out for stupid people.
I'm here, I am living testimony to that.

Praise God. Not only did He spare your life, He saved you from injury.
I am thankful that He did. I like having you around, Whackem. :)

Wowwww. I'm glad you're all right. I can't imagine how terrifying that would be.

When I opened this thread, I thought it was going to be some sort of April Fool's joke. :P

  Incredible, Whackem. Thank God you are alive! Miracles like these astound me. Are you. . . dazed at all? I think I would be after seeing God's hand so strongly on my life.

Just because it can't be said enough times: Praise God you are safe!

When I got out of the truck and my adrenalin wore off, the gravity of what just happened hit me full force. I couldn't believe what hadn't happened.

I almost broke down right there but I called my Mom and she arrived shortly after, called my Girlfriend and told her I wouldn't be coming up... When I told her why she flipped out.

But everything's fine, the cop was real cool about it, it won't affect my insurance rates since I was the only person involved. It's all good now. Just looking for another vehicle.

My truck did what it was supposed to, kept me alive.
The White Chariot died well.

God protects us! Praise God you are fine.

Reminds me of when my Dad fell off some 30 foot ladders onto concrete and just got up and walked away.

That must have been terrifying! :(

I've had one encounter that could have been life threatening, so I can somewhat relate. It's just like in books: a million thoughts fly through your head, and you really do think you're going to die. Not pleasant.

Whackem, for you to be here now, God wasn't finished using you and your talents here on earth.

Thank you, Lord. ^^

Praise God you're alright, Whackem. Experiences like that are frightening.

I'm late to this discussion but had to chime in... That's an amazing story, and thank you for sharing it. Perhaps God allowed that to happen so you could use that experience in your writings?

Wowwowwowwow.

Praise God you're okay! *shakes head in shock* It reminds me of that picture going around in emails, of a truck that ran through a guardrail and landed right on the edge of a 200 foot drop... :o

I'm gonna be the oddball and say that when I thought I was going to die I went totally blank. I felt like I was watching myself try to stop it. (This was when the colt I was riding stepped on a live electric wire.) It all flashed past and I heard myself yelling at the poor terrified horse, then I found myself on the ground with a spider two inches from my nose. At that moment, the spider was all I was concerned about.

That you were ok was most important, but I must ask how the horse fared.

Well he was green and jumpy anyway, so it kinda traumatized him. :? It didn't permanently hurt him though, as far as we know.
