I've heard the best way to promote your website is through a connected series of posts that address your intended audience.
What topic could you write a series of blog posts on and how could you make it profitable both for your audience and increasing the reach of your brand? The purpose of a website is to be the place people go to buy your stuff. Well, what if you don't have anything to sell? What if you aren't getting many sales? One way to increase traffic is to develop a blog series that keeps them coming back, gives them something to comment about, and
gives them something for free.
When people want to buy books, they go to Amazon or a book store. The benefit is free shipping and a wide selection geared to sell them stuff they don't know they want. So what's to get them to your website? My answer is free content - either in the way of knowledge or goods.
So, in the blog series I have planned - "
Bookmarks to Publishing" - I intend to give them advice on key areas to becoming published AND giveaways of ebooks from authors that I interview for each subject. If any of you have twitter or facebook (mostly twitter), you can make the circuit going from blog to blog that gives away books merely for stopping by and commenting. Why are they doing that? It's to get you to check out their website and help build their community. (I'm against comments that mean nothing, or commenting just to comment, but instead prefer comments that further the conversation, such as in my
last giveaway - which is still running

- of Ted Dekker's The Priest's Graveyard.)
Even though I'm not published, I can still give credible advice because I've studied those who are and will interview where necessary. Also, each post intends to challenge the reader to change, and asks how they can or what they've done if they've already made the change. Once I get published, I can go back through my posts, edit to make current, and publish it as a book and make some money. A social media book I heard about was made from blog posts on a very successful blog for the sole purpose of sharing their content with people who haven't been following them for 3 years and don't want to go back through every post. They are making profitable use of their "waste", which is a great idea, just like lumber companies have found ways to profit off of all the excess of cutting down trees.
So,
is there a blog series you can write and where can we find it? I advise putting your website in your signature like I have, hyperlinked so we can easily find your site and help promote your discussions.
