hehe, I'm actually working on design/making/dreaming up one of my MCs costumes. I'm hoping to finished it before August (so I can enter it in my county fair and possibly go to state...but that's beside the point).

I wish I had pictures of what I'm doing...but nothing is far enough along except the Imperial Officer Cap (which is not fantasy) to be worth showing anyway. I have a Jedi costume going. (which is definitely fantasy. )

Look in the pattern books at the stores. McCalls has a good line of mix-n-match patterns where you have multiple options for each piece of the costume (bodice, sleeves, skirt, etc) Simplicity is better for beginning seamstresses.

Amanda made a bodice (with boning in it) and several skirts but I haven't got a photo handy...

One of these days I would like to sew costumes... even though I don't know what I'd do with them. I would like to make (and use) a full cloak sometime, though.

If you're looking to buy costume patterns, wait for them to go on sale at Joann's and the like - $0.99 is a much better price than $14.99+!

Definitely a better price! We ought to all make them for the convention... if we ever get past the planning stage.

I've got a nice bit of buckskin I'm planning on making a female tunic from once I find the right pattern.

I've never ventured into making my own fantasy clothing (though I've often though it would be fun, if I could manage the time). Just a warning, I haven't proofed the whole site for modesty, but it looks fairly decent. Like Philadelphia said, you can always wait for a coupon or sale price.

I've made a few costumes, in a manner of speaking. Two skirts, a bodice, and a poet shirt. (well, that's what we call it, I don't know if that is the proper term for it...) I wear the skirts all the time, having fallen in love with ankle length insanely full skirts. Even duel in them. I think I used a McCall's Costume pattern, but the number I do not have handy. It's a very good pattern... if you want the number, I'll dig it up and get it for you.

I'd never thought of making fantasy clothes before, some of the ones that have been posted are lovely.

I bought a medieval style dress off ebay for a fancy dress party once, and I love it.
