Post subject:  NaNoWriMo Turn Out
Hey everyone! I didn't participate in NaNoWriMo, but I was wondering how everyone's stories went. ^^ Did you finish your story? Did you accomplish everything you wanted to get done? If you didn't have enough time to finish it, do you feel as if you have a good start for something?

Go ahead and share your experience this year. :)

I ended up with about 2700 words by the end of the month. But I wasn't officially participating... :D

I am going to try to write more anyhow though. NaNo is inspiring... :D

I got about 26,800 words. I was hoping for 30k, but because my computer broke, that didn't happen. :P Over all though, it was very fun. :D

I didn't officially participate either. :)

I did clear 50,000 words and am now going to set the story aside until I get some peer feedback. I'm happy with how my partial draft turned out (I didn't finish telling the story in 50,000 words - no where near!), but at the moment I don't have a lot of emotional attachment to it. That's probably good for effective editing! :D

Regardless of what happens to my story, however, NaNo was infinitely valuable to me because it helped me rediscover my writing style. It reminded me not to over-plan and taught me to keep working at a story even when I want to write something else. I tested my limits and broke them. The inspiration and determination I gleaned are worth more than the novel I wrote, and they'll keep me going for awhile.

I got to 50,000, and the story is almost done, too. (It's pretty much over, really; I just have a problem with writing long, drawn-out endings because I don't know how else to do it :rofl: )

It was a pretty good experience for me. I've done it several times before, so I'm not really sure if I learned anything new. I'm hoping it'll help me not be so lazy about my writing the rest of the year, but we'll see...

I finished my 50k, and my story line is done.. I'm working on a sequel now.

I wrote 56000 words, and was very, very happy. :rofl:

Unfortunately, there's probably another twenty thousand words to go in the story line.

I didn't officially do NaNo either--I wasn't even trying, and I cheated because I was working on an established story. But I'd say I squeezed 15,000 words in throughout the month. Quite the accomplishment considering what's been going on lately =O

I hit the 50k mark and still have half the story left untold. Sad part is that without the NaNo "Rush" it will probably take me until next NaNo to finish it! :roll:

I learned that a little every day does add up quickly. I had days that I did no writing and a couple days that I cleared 4k. The daily goal was a big help and gave me something to shoot for. I had a running total and a daily goal that I calculated each day just to encourage me.

I'll probably do it again next year as well. ;)

I got 50,000 words exactly! But then when I put it in to NaNo it only recognized 49,993 so I had to add a sentence. :P I think the only reason I was able to do it and avoid writers block was I had two characters at different places doing different things. When I got stuck with one I went to write about the other. By the time I was finished with that one I could go back to the first. :D

I wrote 50,163 words, or was it 50,162? Nevermind! The important thing is that I won! My story isn't quite finished yet though, but I've decided to relax during December-r-r-r and just be lazy... :P :rofl:

I did that too. I think I had three "viewpoint characters", which I thought added a bit more depth and kept me from getting sick of my MC who had to hang around camp doing nothing half of the time while the others were involved in mystery and espionage. Of a sort. :P

I got something over 54K and about 2/3 finished. Some friends and I are going to have another mini-NaNo in February just to finish off our stories ... that should be interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

Congratulations, everyone else who braved NaNo! It's not an easy task.

I wrote 56,410 words and finished the novel, and promptly cut the first two chapters at the end of the month. It needs a few parts rewritten and some reworking on the "magic" system. I've been doing Nanowrimo since 2004, and this year was especially easy to write, although not quite as coherent as my earlier years were as far as the end product. Two factors helped, one, I'm not employed this year and two, I stole the plot right out of exodus. *smiles innocently*

That said, I am never writing a book with that many plagues in it again!

My story was positively a mess but did clear 50,800 by November 30th and I got to write the scenes I've been dying to write for ages. It was supposed to be a pirate story, which it was, but then it turned into this really weird 'love triangle' thing that left me staring at the computer screen and thinking 'No!' All in all though, I love it and love Nano-ing and plan on doing it again next year. Hey, maybe I can get three years in a row, who knows?

I got 20,000 words, which I'm hoping to be about 1/3 of the entire novel. Now I'll edit it, rewrite, etc. before doing the next one.

I finished NaNo with something like 50,216 words, though it got really crazy at the end since my word processor and the NaNo website didn't agree on my word count. :roll: My first draft is a royal mess, so I'll probably end up rewriting the whole thing...eventually.

I am definitely doing NaNo next year. :D

Wow, everyone, that's amazing! For everyone who competed and those who sat on the sidelines this year, it looks like you were all very productive! (Coming for the person who is having struggles on page 6 of her story...) ^^;;
