Greetings, salutations, and so forth, Holy Worlds denizens! I'm Rosemary. Feel free to call me Rose, Rosie, Thorns 'n' Thistles, or whatever comes to mind. Make something up, I'll be delighted. Someone linked to a page on these forums from the NaNoWriMo boards; I came, I liked what I saw, I joined. Thus you have the dubious honor of my presence here now.
A little about me in general: I'm a college student, working as an English tutor and studying music at a small (but excellent) school in the Rocky Mountains. I am ravenously curious about absolutely everything, to the point where it's one of my most defining traits to those who know me. I'm afraid I allow my curiosity to run me roughshod somewhat, but I learn a lot along the way. I have a great many sisters and no brothers. I enjoy reading, writing, fiddling with things, and thinking far too much. I've spent most of my life fighting with chronic depression, and coming to terms with that has deeply colored the way that I look at life. Despite it all, I try to remain hopeful and optimistic--but if you find my sense of humor a bit twisted, that is probably why.
In some ways I expect I'll be something of the odd one out here: I tend to prefer science fiction to fantasy; my preferences in fantasy writing usually run more along the lines of myths, fairytales, and urban fantasy than Tolkienesque fantasy (not that I dislike Tolkien, I just can't write like him); and I don't usually like to mention God overtly in my writing, though I write from a point of view in which He is always present but never seen. In fact, I tend to keep my religious beliefs mostly to myself. Love them though I do, most of my closest friends are either flamboyantly non-Christian or uncompromisingly secular, and there isn't a lot of room in my social life for open religiousness. So despite differences, I'm rather looking forward to spending some time here amongst people with beliefs along the same lines as my own.

P.S. Is it just me, or are essence maps really quite simple? Because everyone keeps complaining about how complicated they are, while to me they seem very straightforward indeed. It makes me think I must be missing something.
