... I have good reasons.
Okay. *deep breath*
My youth theatre is doing a play called "The Illiad, the Odessy, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 minutes or less." This play has five actors, and 85 porps. half the props aren't finished. It's performing at Murray State University(over four hours away) in six days. I'm the stage manager. I'm going with them, to make sure they don't all fall apart.
We're leaving on Wednesday and coming home on Friday. But, it's more complicated than that.
Tomorrow I'm going to a Civil War Reenactment. All day.
Sunday I work at Dominoes; all day.
Monday I'm going on a trip for my dad, followed by dress rehearsal.
Tuesday I'm probably reinstalling my operating system; followed by dress rehearsal.
Meanwhile I have to find or make the missing props, make lists, copy scripts, bully actors who are also my friends into learning their lines, work with a rather incompetent run crew, and try to pry answers out of my uncommunicative director. That's going to consume most of my time. So I'll try to check in here occasionally before I leave, but don't expect much.
Wednesday we're driving to Murray, and having dress rehearsal that night.
Thursday we're performing.
Friday we get a tour of the college before coming home.
On top of that, on Saturday, the
day after I get home from Murray, I have a college interview. Yep. At Berea, which is four hours in the opposite direction.
Guess what I'm doing Sunday? Well, I begged my manager for the whole week off because I imagine I'll spend Sunday sleeping, and recovering some semblance of sanity, and try to remember what life really is. Because, the next week we're doing the home performances, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday night.
Remind me why I do theatre again?
Just kidding, I really do love it, but if you can't find me, that's why. You'll have to go bug Jay for a while.
