Has anyone ever read that book? My mom read it to my brother and me last year for school.

Pros: I thought it was very well thought out and a terrific parable of how the government works. There were also very real comparisons of the characters to how people would act in real situations. Such as "sheeple." (Sheep-people or herd mentality.)

Cons: The book always put me in a really negative mood because of transformation of the story going from a rather equal state of government at the "farm". Then it transformed to a very partial government in which the pigs gained from.

I read Animal Farm a while back and really enjoyed it. It definitely makes you think. It's an absolutely brilliant satire. While I didn't agree with everything Ornwell said, it's certainly a worthwhile read.

Personally, I found it to be a great reminder to not be "sheep" and learn how to "read."

*shudder* I thought it was creepy! Hits a little too close to home, if you know what I mean...

And it reminded me of George MacDonald's "Curdie and the Princess" in some ways.

I've heard tons about this book, so I'm inclined to check it out. *goes off to find library card*

In Curdie and the Princess, Curdie has the ability to discern a person's true character by a handshake.

When he touches a person's hand, he senses the animal they resemble. (like a snake, or a sheep, or a dog etc...)

Yeah, I thought book is super creepy. I rather like that kind of creepy though. Maybe I'm just weird .

I've read Curdie and the Princess, too. Again, another story with my kind of creepiness :D.

I studied this book for my English Literature O level! I loved it. It is so well written. I'd love to read some more of his books.

I have to do it for literature next month, so I'll talk about it afterwards.

Well, I checked it out from the library, and discovered that I had read it a long time ago. :D

I liked it because it is a great parallel, but I disliked it too. The story line of what happens is terrible. Add in I have memories of reading it when I was little, and I have complicated feelings about it.
