Speaking of Dr. Seuss... we had a video when I was little (about 4 or 5, maybe?) and it had Green Eggs and Ham, the one about the Sneetches, and something else... and no joke, I could quote it word for word from beginning to end. And would, often. x) Strange little child, I was...

Of course it's a Dr. Suess book! It's called Fox in Socks. You should be able to get it from your local library. And when you're done, read this version: http://web.mit.edu/adorai/www/seuss-tec ... iting.html

It's one loooooong tongue twister, is what it is.

"When a fox is in the bottle where the tweedle beetles battle with their paddles in a puddle on a noodle eating poodle, this is what you call a --"

But wait, I don't want to give the ending away!!

I still haven't read it, but Fox in Socks? :)

Yep.
"Fox.
Socks.
Knox.
Box."

First four words of the books. :D

When I was a child my dad would read Dr. Suess to me and my sister, we had a big yellow book with Bartholomew Cubbins, The sleep book, the Sneetches(and other stories) What was I scared of? and something else... What was a scared of was my sisters and mine's favorite. We could both recite it, word for word, just because of how many times my dad read it to us at bedtime. Years later I picked up the book again and was horrified because I'd forgotten it. :(

My little brother, who's the same age now as I was then, can recite Brown bear, brown bear what do you see. That's not Suess, but it's still pretty funny to watch him 'read'. He's been read that book so many times he knows it all...

<advertisement>If ya'll like Dr. Seuss and have an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad, check out the eBook versions of them, made by Oceanhouse Media (and programmed mainly by my dad :D). So far, 11 of the books are out, as well as 6 Seuss-themed game and camera apps.</advertisement>

I think my tongue got temporarily twisted into a pretzel when I read Fox In Socks out loud for the first time. I love how Dr. Seuss makes up words like smogulous, gluppity-glupp and snergaly.

I feel obligated as an ML to say, "ENOUGH ALREADY".
Take your Dr. Seuss conversations, and all your other little discussions elsewhere please. :D I think we were letting it go long enough for Elanhil to get his record, but no more, PLEASE!!! Don't make me lock this thread! Just kidding. :D :D But seriously, enough is enough.

Hey now! Jay Lauser said, when Elanhil asked about locking it, that he usually lets these threads stay open as a big running joke! And you're the one who broke page 9...

(Page 9, Elanhil!!!)

the locking threat was a hollow one. I had no intentions of doing so. I was just saying that things were getting a bit out of hand. And that still stands :)

No! We have angered the little yellow name people! We will all sink to our doom one by one, picked off by hitmen and assassins. All because we broke page 9! Gasp! Life is a tragedy! :D

However, a house divided against itself cannot stand. Since you are the first victim, I've sent Gisbourne out after you. :P

Okay, so I'm out of the joke, but I'll contribute my part to breaking page ten.

And Airianna said...

Blah blah blah, and blah blah blah.

Long pause...

And blah blah blah, and blah blah blah.

More litany of speech. (hopefully enough spaces to help break the page number)

Crash bang boom! Diegose breathes fire, bad guys runs away in fear (as if that ever happens!).

Battle is won, la la de dah.

Hope I broke the page number.

(now who is the weird one Shawn H.?) :D

Crash bang woot!
Welcome to the fun!
My rhyming skills are worn
So now I'm officially done!

I have three younger sisters who provide excess goofiness in our household, so I stick to puns and sarcastic jokes. Today is a very unusual day for me. (Maybe I should quit putting sugar on my breakfast... :D)

Woot yipee yay!

Ok, I'm not usually that goofy, but the craziness was inspiring. :D

Tamera: Authors are crazy.

Me: Don't state the obvious.

I'm sorry you're not usually that goofy, Shawn and I are *grin*.

@ Evening: Well done!

Yay! Page 10 is ours!

The goofiness is on! :D Ackp! Confetti... :P *The confetti turns into penguins that fly off while licking rainbow colored lollipops. The penguins form the words in the sky: Welcome Elanhil.*

Dani: That... was really wierd.

Aryn: What did you expect from our author in a goofiness competition that welcomes someone?

Dani: Good point.

Me: Hey!

Penguins can't fly, silly. :D

*a rocket shoots into the air and explodes into a flaming dragon. It swoops through the thread, then fizzes off. Suddenly, it explodes into a million red-gold sparks which form the words:

"Welcome, not-so-new-member-of-Holy-Worlds, Elanhil!"*

Gotta love fireworks. :D We should make a point of over-welcoming all new members like this.

Eh, Elanhil is tired of us anyway. I think we've overstayed his welcome. We need to find an unsuspecting new person to descend upon.

Evening, that sounded like Dr. Seuss.
Quote:
Ben's band bangs and Bim's band boom.
Boom Band! Big Band! Broom Band! Pig Band!

*Elanhil can be heard dimly above the noise yelling "no more Dr. Seuss!!"

Elanhil, be glad we haven't turned it into a farewell party or something. :D

*teasing grin and rubbing of hands together conspiratorially* I thought Jay, excuse me… Sir Emeth Mimetes and Armorbearer were guys too. *blinking look of innocence* I didn't realize only Elanhil, Eruheran, and Seer were the only guys. :D

You guys are going to be sorry you let me join. Maybe Jay should start doing background checks before he just lets every stray on the street into the Forum. You never know what kind of crazies might be lurking.
