* grins * On a slightly more serious note, though, all.... I write letters to Jay twice a week, and I sent him my intro post. So then he asked for me to send some of my y'all's responses (not all...that would be too many o.o). So I did.

My reason for telling you though, is just as a reminder that, though the king may be gone for a time...he's still watching you. Even in places you might not expect.

I guess we should watch what we say then .

I tend to think of them as swimming, but I suppose they creep about on the riverbed underwater sometimes.

I've only ever seen them in the water, so I had assumed they were fully aquatic, but I researched it, and there was disagreement over if they ever left the water. If they do, it would only happen rarely.

Yup! She's doing pretty good...tired, but good. We like trying to feel Baby. But he is very ornery and moves around and tries to hide when ever we specially want to... And Mama has only got to hear his heart beat for the first time very recently. I could hear it all the time, with our fetoscope, you know, but when ever I tried to let someone else hear, I couldn't find it any more.

I think the closest thing in Ireland would be the smooth newt, which is cool too (since most amphibians are cool ), but only four inches long.

I'm afraid the name did not make a very good first impression on me, though I quelled it quickly...when we were younger Jay used to spend hours killing the newts in the pond, because they ate the goldfish and the frogs, I think.

Sadly, I haven't seen any salamanders or newts in the wild for a long time...

Yes, there's a newt in the northwestern US that's very poisonous. It's not dangerous to humans that I know of, but it could be to pets.

I'm glad to hear Mama Lauser is doing well. I've never gotten to hear the heartbeat of a little baby, because I'm the youngest in my family. I imagine it must be neat.

I've always gone with my parents for the ultrasound, and heard the babys' heartbeats I'm glad your mom is doing well, as well. Praying.

I have had a question for you and/or your brothers for months now, and never got around to asking.

Once, Jay was talking about the deep character fractalling system (not sure where, the place has slipped my mind) and I recall him mentioning that he and his siblings were creating fractalling systems for things other than characters. Did that ever happen?

I wonder how many poisons there are like that...poisonous to one thing, but not to another. I know there are some of course, but I don't know if that is common.

Have you ever tried killing a newt, just out of curiousity?



* smiles * It's really neat. I love doing her prenatals. The beat of a baby is faster you know, so whenever I would find the beat I would check Mama's pulse to see if they were the same speed. If it was faster, it was Baby. I got good at finding him. I also like trying to decide where the placenta is, by listening for a strong maternal heartbeat in some area.

I'd asumed that "not dangerous to humans" might mean that, like Daddy Long-legs spiders (at least according to what I've heard, which may be wrong), they wouldn't be able to inject a person with the poison.

There are many poisonous things that don't excrete enough venom to harm/kill a human, while they do excrete enough to harm/kill a smaller animal, i.e. a pet.

Newts have poisonous skin, but the poison does not penetrate through human skin (though it could through a cut...). However, it is dangerous to the mouth, eyes, etc., and thus dangerous if a pet licked a newt or maybe even just sniffed a newt. Though I haven't read this anywhere, it also seems like it might be dangerous to small children, if the children were prone to pick up animals, since they might wipe their eyes afterwards.

(Side note: Daddy long legs are arachnids, but not spiders, and are completely harmless. They actually have no fangs at all. There is also a spider that some people call “daddy long legs”, and it can actually bite humans, but it is no more venomous than any other harmless spider.)

* nods * Well, then, if you ever have to, I warn you – it is not easy. At least not the ones we had. Jay used to stab them, with a spear he had made from wood, to get them out of the pond, then cut off the head and all the arms and legs and the tail, and they still weren't dead. All the appendages would wriggle off by themselves, and it would take a long time before it was mutilated enough to stop moving and give up the ghost. * wry smile * And yes, I was the sort of little girl who would go and watch....



* shakes head cheerfully * Nope. Never had anyone fervently begging us for them...at least as far as I knew of...and you know how Jay is about getting things done. We were just planning them, and did work a bit on several.

Though I would not be averse to working on some more myself if anyone would really want them, and if there was anybody who'd volunteer to help...? Jay could help out too, I think, with it, a little – we can talk pretty regularly.

Oh, and he posted the CFS Character Fractalling System on the forums awhile ago. That might be what you're thinking of.

I think some amphibians' bodies tend to keep moving for awhile after they're dead.

So...what system should I work on? I think one of the ones I have thought about the most is a World-building system...would very many people want something along those lines? Was there anything specific that you were wanting?

I have two sisters between me and my little brother. They are 17 and 14 . Seth was a bit of a pleasant surprise !

Cool... I would imagine. This Baby we're waiting for now was a surprise for us too...we weren't expecting another, with Mama getting older. The most wonderful surprise in the world!

Babies are the best surprise ever. My mom was 45 (almost 46) when Seth was born so I know how that is .
