From what I have found, the more your characters are dissimilar from you, the better and deeper your story is. That is because it is easy to make your characters merely an extension of you, emphasizing a certain part of you. It is much harder, and more realistic, if you learn about people in general and then develop an accurate character that is actually the opposite of you. I do that. :)

I would have to say that Arionwyn (main charrie #1) is most like me. She's a tomboy, (true) energetic, (true) outgoing, (true) feels like she'll never amount to anything, (sad, but true :( ) and a bit reckless. (definitely true! ;) )

It's hard to say which character I am most like, because each of my main female characters are a part of me and parts I want to be.

I'd say I'm more like my character Adella Hanariah from my book Adella: Princess Apprentice. It's at a stand still right now though. Adella is very reserved and gets embarrassed easily. She is humble and kind-hearted and gets distressed in situations out of her control. She has a firm belief in God (El) and cherishes her friends.

My other characters are usually more outspoken than myself and aren't afraid of what other people think of them. :P

My main character Terra (a.k.a Lady Terra) is made to resemble some of the side of me people really don't get to see.
She's outgoing, cheerful, energetic, wild/rash/reckless, quiet and serene when she wants to be, unsure of herself, lonely, smart and easily embarassed. She can also be a bit loud :D

I am not really like my characters, I try to fashion the main charrie like who I would want to be. So in Serena Knight, I made her bold, kind, sweet, stubborn, smart and wanting to feel like she belongs. (the bold part is not in any way like me)

She is sort of lonely and doesn't have much friends, she is also unsure of herself (which is sort of the part that she resembles me in...)

I'm going to buck the mold a little bit here :). My main character is nothing like me, his name is Zacirè and he's really nothing like me. He's outgoing, bold, adventurous, a little bit headstrong, and is pretty much my opposite. On the other hand, my secondary main character Numaryá is a lot like me...which is a little strange since she's a girl. But she's an introvert, thinks through things a lot, and is sort of the 'voice of reason' to Zaciré. But I'm trying not to make her too much like me since that would be a little creepy....

(However, Zaciré's appearance and some of his personality is patterned off of one of my best friends...)

I am most like Aidan Romero, the main character from my modern conspiracy/adventure/ thingy with the Knights Templar. In fact, he's part of who I am, and who I want to be. I just don't want to be a revenge-driven, rapier-wielding teenager which is what he becomes.

I don't know about which fantasy character, they aren't very developed.
