I usually don't cry during movies (I know, I'm heartless ;) ) But I did cry during UP... when the wife was struggling up the hill, Oh my gosh she looked so frail I just had to cry!

I do cry when I read books though... usually it's right before I have to go somewhere (good timing) then I'm all red in the face :?

UP and Marley and Me are two of the few movies that ever made me cry.

I have a dog that looks similar to Marley, so when Marley bit the dust, I was bawling. My friends get mad when I accidently tell them the dog dies, so I thought I would put this in 'Spoiler'

I don't cry that often in books, but I do get really sad and sometimes a tears slips down my cheeks ;)

Digging up an old thread... :)

I cry rather often... I'll cry over books, I'll cry for movies (at least, the first time through, the only exception to that was SW 6, where I didn't cry when Anakin died till I watched it again the next day...), I cried a lot when the baby rabbit I was trying to save died in my hands... :( I cry when I'm lonely for my friends (which is getting less often, fortunately, though I haven't yet made new ones), and I cry when Mom talks about putting my favorite rabbit down...

This thread nearly made me cry!

I usually only cry during movies or books, in real life I only cry at death. I cried so much during Toy Story 3, because I've grown up with TS and to see Andy give Woody away was just....*sob* Also, it got me nonstalgic for the time when you could turn anything into a friend, when you were never lonely as long as you had a toy around, when happiness didn't depend on things. And then, of course, in Up, I cried so hard when Carl looks in the Adventure Book and sees all the pictures of him and Ellie together.
I cried when Frodo went over the sea, in the book and the movie, I cried when Boromir died the second time I read the book (the first time I didn't really care *blushes*) I cried the second time I read the part in RotK about Arwen and Elrond's final goodbye, actually, I cried pretty much that entire chapter. Oh, and I cried during Last Battle. I also cry in books and movies during any amazing parts of bravery, like the book Last Debate. The movie ruined it "A DIVERSION!!!" Anyway, I cry a lot.

I almost cried during the movie "My Girl", and in a couple of books. And in some movie I cannot remember at the moment... I don't normally cry, but if I do, I really cry. I came pretty close to crying during "UP".
I have been pretty close to crying in a couple of sweet sad really good songs (Mark Shultz's "Letters From War", for example).
Has anyone else almost (or has) cried in an Adventures In Odyssey episode (s)? If I cried in Adventures In Odyssey episodes, I would cry during "The Price of Freedom" and "Recollections".

Oh, when I read the second book in the "Elsie Dinsmore" series, I almost cried. I could have.
And I never exactly cry during movies, but several have made my eyes get very moist: Black Beauty, and Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. The endings of those movies are so sweet and happy.
Also, when I watch the TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, I always get a bit teary when the family sees their new house.
I felt kind of teary during a scene in The Scarlet Pimpernel (which I very highly recommend). Otherwise I never cry during books.

When it comes to real life, being accused of doing something wrong when I either was not wrong, or didn't know I was wrong, often makes me so sad and frustrated that I go in the bathroom and cry. And being punished or scolded makes me cry.

Sometimes stress makes me cry; I get angrier and angrier until I finally stomp into the bathroom, slam the door behind me, and burst into tears. An episode like this usually happens when I am hormonal. :P

And sometimes, I get in absolute despair over something (this always happens when I stay up way too late), so I will go in the bathroom to weep and groan.

Yes, you guessed it, I like to cry in private. The bathroom is the most private place in the house, plus it has tissues and cool water. And a mirror. :)

So far, through all the family deaths I have been through, I have not cried. But, none of those deaths were very tragic; my great grandmothers and my grandfather were Christians, and they died peacefully in their old age. I was sad, but while people around me cried, but I did not. :?

I don't even remember the last time I cried. I never cry over books, or movies....I guess I'm a pretty cold fish. ;)

I cry when I'm extremely frustrated and can't hold my emotions in anymore. I also tend to cry privately, and if anyone is talking to me when I'm about to cry, I have to cut the conversation short and leave.

I don't really tend to cry during movies. If it's particularly sad I get a lump in my throat, but nothing worse than that.

I almost cried during UP. I think I might have cried during the second Elsie Dinsmore book, especially where she was sitting at the piano practically all night because she refused to play a song for Mr. Edwards. I think I cried when I read Charlotte's Web for the first time, where Charlotte dies. I think I cried when I heard Carrie Underwood's song 'Just a Dream' the first two times. It's about a girl on her wedding day, but her husband was called to the army, so they don't get married. I also cry when appropriate, for example, funerals.

"Just A Dream" is so sad! :( I didn't cry during it, but it's on the list I have called, "If I cried during (genre here), I would totally cry during this." :P

I think I'm more likely to cry in books or movies as opposed to real life. Wonder what that tells me about myself...
I've cried in odd movies - Savannah Smiles, which is a kind of comedy, and Huckleberry Finn.
I cried (or got teary, or at least wanted to!) in Little Men, An Episode of Sparrows, Little Britches and Man of the Family by Ralph Moody, and probably others.

I don't really cry when reading and only occasionally when watching films; I cried at the end of Schindler's List. However in real I cry if someone else is crying, it's quite funny really but I can't stop myself. :dieshappy: So basically, if you're around me don't cry!

I teared up when I read the Martyr's Song but I didn't really cry. It was the saddest book I've ever read, though. The rest of the series, however, was really good!

Six guys have posted on this thread... and I think five only once. :D

I'm somewhat like Lia... I keep emotions such as pain and distress and sadness on the inside. Not because I hate showing it... more because if I do show it I break down and I hate crying. (Apart from when I'm watching books and movies). Keeping most everything within, I can evaluate things in a calmer fashion, and deal with them in like calm fashion. Writing helps too. As does piano when one has a piece corresponding with the mood. :D

Normally I don't cry when I'm in pain, but this morning I was bawling like a 5-year-old. :P Of course, part of the reason was that I was unable to get my hand out of the window myself, and no one was nearby...

Ooh...that sounds awful. So it was hurting and hurting and you just could not do it yourself this time, but no one was there for you...no wonder you were crying. I might have, too.

Poor Milly.

I almost cried during Soul Surfer, the movie about Bethany Hamilton with Anna-Sophia Robb.

I was in a movie? Awesome! ;) Hehe...actually, my last name does start with "Ha"....that's almost scary.

I don't cry much since I'm not a big fan of crying hysterically and ending up with the beginning symptoms of hyperventilation and a migraine. :P Actually...very many things can make me cry, but I let very few things make me cry...hehe. The only time I'll actually cry is if I'm alone and everyone under the same roof as me is asleep or unconscious. Or I really just need to explode...but that's only happened... * counts * Umm...okay, that's never happened, but I'm assuming that's when I'll cry in front of a conscious person. Hehe.

The music alone makes me want to cry - who knows what would happen if I actually watched the movie!

I do not cry, as a general rule. Which is why crying is a sure sign of me being overwhelmed with grief/circumstances/stress. My personality tends to make me internalize grief and overwhelmed feelings. The other part is that crying shows my humanity. What I mean by that is, I tend to absorb other people’s problems/grievances. I try to comfort other people as a general rule. Therefore, for me to cry… it just isn’t something I typically do.

However, I do not think it is wrong to cry, in fact, sometime I think I have an unhealthy approach to crying. It is a good relief, at times, and scientifically heals people who feel distressed.

Now, I do have problem with cry babies. ;) But that is another topic.

*didn’t realize she had never posted on here before…. *
