This is so Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs gone sugary. (The classic book - I haven't seen the movie.)

The movie was a total let down for someone who grew up loving the book.

I've heard as much, but I'll probably try watching it anyway. It might have merit on its own, hard to say.

The book is a treasured classic from childhood. Absolutely charming and wonderful.

I loved that book growing up

The movie was OK, but the book waay better

I have seen the movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, but I didn't know it was a book. Note: I said seen. I've only heard a few words of it, because "saw" it while on an airplane on someone else's screen.
