Ok, forgot to update how to pronounce my name...it got a lot harder to pronounce a little while ago.

So in my name, Ly=Lih (as in lift), can=Kahn (or Cawn), is=iss (like in chris).

Might I recommend a spelling change, then? With the way your name is spelled, you will forever be correcting people on its pronunciation. The Ly especially. Everyone will automatically think of Lycanthropy, because of the similarity between the two words.

Well, there's the problem. I've been pronouncing that word wrong too....I don't know, I like it's spelling because it is supposed to be similar to Lycanthrope, would Lay-Kahn-iss be a better pronounciation?

I was pronouncing it Lie-Can-Is. (Is as in the last part of Iris) That is probably something to do with me being Lancashire though, I don't drawl, so that's probably why I'm saying Can not Kahn.

I guess that's the way it's supposed to be pronounced...I just didn't get the memo.

As for Japanese, I think they probably just took the word phonetically from English (which we pretty much pronounce as "KRIS-chan", if you think about it), and it's pure coincidence that Japanese tends to insert a 'u' between consonants. Hence "Krischan" -> "Kurisuchan" ('ch' is phonetically a single consonant).

So yeah, I wouldn't say the languages are connected, and anyway they both use different alphabets to express the word--it's only the same when transliterated into English--but it's a neat coincidence.

lai-can-throhp (as in lie, can, and throw, or open). It sounds like Lady Elanor got it right.

Resha Caner is a fallen angel, so he doesn't really have a world at all. In my story, the fallen angels (who call themselves the Vaanou) take over a planet called Calmeron. Resha Caner has second thoughts about his rebellion against God and takes the side of the planet's inhabitants (called the Graseq).

However, his position is very subtle. None of the other Vaanou know he has switched sides. He is supposed to be a messenger between the Vaanou and the Graseq, but he aids the Graseq by helping them communicate with each other while spreading misinformation among the Vaanou.

In essence, then, Resha Caner is the one who tells the story of the Graseq, but never really shows up in the story as a character himself - hence why I adopted it as my online name.

That's probably more than you wanted to know.

I'm pretty flexible. I suppose RAY-shuh CAW-ner would be my preferred pronuncuation. Further, I prefer being called Caner (Resha is a title, not a name). But, people call me Resha, RC, etc. and I'll answer to all of them.

What's funny is that many assume I am female. I think that is because in the Germanic & Latin languages female names (and nouns) often end in 'a'. I invented the "Resha" title, though, as an alteration of the Turkish "Pasha".
