Bendlace

or

Bandlace

I am using these, but I do not know which one to choose. It is a surname for a family which has many characters involved in the stories.

Bendlace I give a 6, it sounds nice and looks good on the page. Bandlace is 4, I think it looks a bit odd on the paper...And I think of a rubber band.

Bendlace makes me think of something to do with floppy shoelaces, but Bendlance makes me think of the old jousting tournaments. :D

Sharpflight sounds like a falcon, swallow, or night hawk. :D *imagines a bit cutting swiftly (ha!) through the air* 7/10 ^_^

Sharpflight is vivid, and is even more vivid underneath. Like a swallow banking suddenly, or a dragonfly sitting still on a stem, then darting away. But it is a little awkward to say. I would say 6.

Bramblebraid brings to mind a friendly girl, but it does not seem to fit a whole person. If it was a translated sylvan name it would fit a whole person, but the construction does not seem to fit the sylvan style.
If it referred to a braid of brambles it would do better as a place name. On the whole I would say 4 or 5.

Lady Abigail Mimetes wrote:

I also thought Bendlace looks better written, and seems to roll better with being a surname. Bandlace seems bolder, but it may seem like bravado as a surname.

Bendlance sounds like a venerable old name. It is a little awkward to say, but that almost forces you to say it with an old fashioned turn. I would give it a 6 or 7.

I thought of some more funny ones: Starshirt, Winkbar, Harddogger, and Grimbutton.

But the one I enter is:
Shaftchild

Grasswind. It sounds all slithery and summery. ^_^ 5/10, because it sounds nice, but reads a bit oddly.

I like to get pictures in my head with these sorts of names, and that one was a bit harder there, so I say 5.

Wrenhelm: 8/10
I like the rhythm of it, and the sort of mental image it conjures. A sailing ship and a wren. Or, perhaps even better and more to the point, an armored bird flying into battle.

Willowsfold: 7. It sounds like a good place name, and it sounds familiar without being an imitation.

Walkwood--6. Gives me a picture of either a path through a tall, shadowed forest, or else a weary traveler, or maybe even an inn somewhere deep in the woods. :)

That is funny: it gave me a more eerie idea, but what you thought of makes sense.

Facefire - 5, it seems like a place name, in two words more like a chapter name, and seems to suggest a strange ritual, or a translation of a foreign idiom referring to passion.

I get a sci-fi feel to it, i like it, almost like its the name of a ship or a certain place.

Dusthound 9/10. I really like it. The essence of the two words overlap just enough that they feel like they belong, but they aren't normal together, they're awesome together.

6.5/10

Sounds a bit disjointed, personally. Unless it's a foreign sounding name, something like Guntherwhite (going off on a limb here), then it might fit well.

Hey, I haven't read it either, and making the names is pretty simple.... And everyone else is supposed to tell you if they're good or not. * grins * You just stick together two words that sound cool together, pretty much.

7/10 I think I must not be in a very serious mood, because it sounds like a very impressive fish. Like a legendary catch the MC of a story goes to get to prove his worth and ends up having a conversation with it and gaining some great knowledge.
