Here's the scenario: You have now published your brainchild. Whether you have published traditionally or self-published, your book is now out there for the world to read. And the world does read. Your book becomes popular among your target audience (and maybe beyond). Everyone everywhere is reading it, and it's become as popularly read as Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc.

Your book now has fandoms (found especially on Tumblr), and these fans are shipping characters left and right. You've become rather wealthy. It seem like only short while ago that you first presented your new book.

And then one day, an E-mail/phone call arrives.

Your book, the book everyone is raving about, is to become a movie! The rights have been all worked out, and the film making company (we'll call them Green Dragon Studios) has called/E-mailed you with what seems to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

YOU get to pick the cast. Out of all the Hollywood stars and other, not so well known stars (think San Antonio Christian Film Festival actors), are at your choosing. You want Robert Downey Jr.? Done. You want the voice-actor who does Dot in 'A Bug's Life?' Absolutely.

What actors would you pick for your 'dream cast'? You can even elaborate on why you chose those actors. It can be because of past roles they've played, their real life personality, or just because you enjoy watching the actor act.

So far, I have...
Liam Neeson as Prince Seymour
Liam Hemsworth as Gabriel
Sophia Myles as Tae
Craig Horner as Orrun Annor

Those last two are just because they look like my characters when they are in character for other shows. ^_^

So what about you? You get to hand-pick the actors for the movie of your book. The movie won't be just like the book, but filmmakers don't want to risk your wrath, so the movie is really close to the book. ;)

Who do you pick?

If my something I wrote was to become a movie ideally what I would want would be for all directors interested in the story to send me there synopsis of what it would be like. Then after I had picked the director I would let them loose on it and retain nothing but final script approval.

I would want totally new faces. I want people who have read the book and have a passion to present the character they wish to portray.

Fun fun. :D Well, for my yet-to-be-written work of awesomness, *cough* ;) here is my current cast:

Ethan Zaele: Julian Morris (though he may be a little old now...)
Lexus Black: Anna Popplewell
[name redacted villain]: Andy Serkis
[name redacted under-villain]: Hugo Weaving

So far that's all I've got in my imagination for a cast. :D

Yay! It'll be cool to see who plays Flash and the little ones. ^_^

Interesting. So you'd give them free reign of the whole movie and actors? Would there be any particular actor or actress you would specifically want?

Ooh, that's interesting. So would fans of your book be eligible to portray their favorite character? Or more new actors?

Ooh, cool! :D You has Smeagol. ^_^

I think for my main villain, Christopher Eccleston would be interesting, maybe. Although at this rate I think only one actor in my dream cast is American (from what I can tell in the trailer). I wonder if I can fit Matt Smith in there somewhere...

I would still want people who could act well (or at least get far enough into the character's head for it to work) but yeah. I want a good group of people to play in it so it's more about the story than it is the actors.

Except maybe a few famous people to be the Nephilim, because that would be hilarious.

Of course. :) That's a good point.

Haha. Why would that be hilarious? :D

I found more! And I am loving my dream cast!

Christopher Eccleston as Yovak
Richard Armitage as Seiryu (seriously, he's like Seiryu incarnate  )
Jacqueline Emerson as Lillian
Garrett Hedlund as Mordir

Can I, like, at least demand these people do the audio drama? :dieshappy:

Because the Nephilim represent the attractiveness of evil.

Yeah I'd be pretty hands off I rather let the director do his job and not be really nit-picky and and insist on casting it all myself and such.

Gotcha. :D So there wouldn't be any actor you'd have in mind? Is there just the PERFECT representation of a character, MC or villain or the rugged supporting character? ;)

Nope not really. I never really visualize my characters as actors.

This thread has made me think about my "Fantasy epic" main character who starts at age nine and ends somewhere in the late thirty's. It would probably take three actors to play him at different ages.

Ok, I just got back from the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, and I now have an actor to post.

Based on his performance as Thranduil, (as that's the only person I've seen him play) Lee Pace would be disturbingly perfect for Jaegar. o.O

Ooh, that would be interesting. Maybe the actors could be father and sons, so they could look alike. :D

Aw, fun. ^_^ I want to see the Hobbit.

Ooh, that's cool. Is that what Jaegar looks like?

I think James Franco could be a good Rousen Annor. He looks like him.

I found a second possible match for Seiryu, maybe: Tyler Hoechlin. He looks like he'd be a good Seiryu. Maybe Richard Armitage could play Yvak instead...

I'm going off of looks, so odds are their voice is going to be really off. XD

Okay. This group of actors is for my novel, Wonderfully Made. :D This isn't all of the characters, but it's really hard to find child actors who match the descriptions in my head. :P

Nia Kirkpatrick - Amy Davidson. I have no idea who this actress is, and she doesn't exactly fit, but she's close enough. Karen Gillian is also a close but not exact match.

Joseph Rashid - Christopher Eccleston, only with a little more stubble and slightly longer hair.

Killian 'Mikey' Tennant - Ciaran Keating, the Irish dancer. He's the guy on the left; I had to use a pic from his Facebook because he's not well known, so there aren't many photos on Google Search. :P

As for Elven Prince:
  • Grant - Eddie Redmayne | Image
  • Jo - Hayley Atwell | Image
  • Cameron - Hayden Christensen | Image
  • Madison - Susan Sarandon | Image
  • Starr (young) - Shailene Woodley | Image
  • Sam - Thomas McDonnell | Image
  • Enya - Karen Gillan | Image

I'm not sure who would play Hayden or Meri.

Ooh, those are neat choices! :D I remember when you showed us that collage in chat the other day. I saw the picture of Eccleston (not knowing then that it was him) and was like "that really looks like Christopher Eccleston! "

Nice list! I want to see the Divergent movie to see how Shailine Woodley acts. ^_^

Okay, new part to the scenario: Your book will have an audiobook, and you can choose the reader. Who would you want? You can do actors or other audiobook-reader. :)

Pretty much ish. Shorter blond hair, and no crown, but I kept imagining red eyes on him and was like o.o (his voice was what got me)

Bzzzzz, I has another one!

Based on her character Elin in Psych, I'm gonna say Lauriane Gillieron would make a very perfect Tinsley.
